Grandstream GXV-3000 Video Phone Reviews
I bought 2 of these phones, 1 for my parents and 1 for myself. My goal was to find an easy to use video phone. Setting it up might not be easy though. I have been using VoIP for quite some time, so it was easy for me. Someone with no experience might run into some difficulties though. I simply picked one of the many "free" SIP-providers, created 2 accounts and entered all the information into the phones. If my parents want to call me, they simply dial my "number". It can't get easier then that.
There are a few things that could be improved though:
Wlan: Support a Wlan usb stick. (I read somewhere that Grandstream is working on that.)
Speaker phone: The speaker phone echos a little. It works better then most systems I have tried at home and it works good enough for me to use it, but it is not as good as business level speaker phones. Thus this could be improved.
G.722: This phone is marketed to support the wideband codec G.722, which improves the audio quality. I noticed after I purchased the phone that this codec has not yet been implemented though. This phone has been on the market for about 3 years, so I am surprised that Grandstream has not provided firmware with G.722 support yet.
All in all though for the price of the phone, this was a great buy.
