Fortunately, I was able to finish a successful installation after downloading the latest drivers for my video card and starting the installation runnning as administrator from within a DOS window. It has that difficult to achieve balance between reality and playability. Installing GTR was very difficult. The action even when driving alone is amazing, the realistic way in which speed is depicted makes your heart pound. I recommend this product highly specially if you're not easily frustratred by a difficult install. I'm a technologist and after several tries I was so frustrated that I almost gave up. Driving GTR is a joy.
They've given the game rave reviews - as has their parents. I got it for my niece and nephew.
Amazing graphics compared to other games, and they nailed GT car physics dead on. If you like this one, try GTR2 its just gets better. I've owned almost every racing simulator there is over the years, but this one takes the cake.
Problem is no matter what wheel you have it is hard shifting gears. If other gamers have a better way of shifting gears on GTR, let us know. They are beautiful,fast, and can be driven. Most wheels do not have 8 buttons to shift all gears so you have to choose automatic shifting. Great cars. The only car that can compete with these giants are the Sierra cars, expecially 2003 and 2002. The other problem is I like oval racing, not cross country racing as in GTR. You can experience a rush driving these cars.
Yopu won't regret any investmant of time that you make in the game. Also, I might add, it's beautiful. The pit stop stuff is awkward and ungainly and running at night makes me crazy. I have tried the the two "updates" of this game, GTR 2 and the GT Legends, but to me this is the least cluttered, most playable version available the game that most closely mimics racing, that rewards continued effort and concentration. Flaws.
