The printer could not even fly straight when I threw it out the window and missed the trash bin down below. I broke the scanner glass after smashing my fist on to cover top which sometimes made it work. Then the trouble began. It did not want to pick paper up out of the tray and then kept triple feeding high quality paper. HP you need to get your crap together and quit making your new devices so cheap and overloaded with useless sensors that don't do anything but brake. I did not know from job to job if I could get the printer to print which made it completely unreliable and useless.
Then a sensor could not detect the installed ink cartadges. I decided to try and keep using it until I used up the ink cartidges I brought with the printer. It seemed like the more I needed the printer the worse the problem was. My last HP pringer 1610 was a workhorse that finally had to be put out to pasture after 2-3 years. After that the printer was a bulky worthless paper weight.
Lately HP you have been very disappointing. This problem was reoccurring enough to be serious problem. I upgraded to the PH C4280 and knew in a couple of days I had made a BIG MISTAKE. Software installed fine on vista. After about 2 weeks of complete fustration another sensor went bad telling me I always had a door open.
Customers need reliable workhorses that print, print, and print some more.
love it its a bit big:( nd slightly heavy but i wont be moving it around so that doesnt matter. Make sure you purchase the usb cord (find the cheapest one, I bought one here for like 2 dollars) Ink might be expensive but just try nd buy in bulk. just received it :) so far so GOOD. everything works.
Was it an hour. For the ones who had problems: FOLLOW THE EXACT DIRECTIONS, not what YOU think is the right way :-) BTW, if I thought the installation of the PSC 1610 was long.this one is REALLY long. I ended up with some duplicate documents, but now I know better. The PSC's worked for us for 3-4 yrs and by now they both sounded too tired and ready to die. OVERALL: A great printer for the price.
Scanning: I think it is a little faster than the PSC 1610 and at the default setting of 200dpi the results are very good. Save ink and time: Set your default at "Fast Draft" - it makes a very respectable copy at that setting. I tried the 600dpi, slight difference on the monitor, but I'm sure it makes a better printed copy.
We bought two of these to replace two HP PSC 1610's three wks ago - so far so good. Better price per page and less trips to the store. Can this silly problem be corrected.
Or it seems it was. The HP F4280 is a lot quieter than the PSC 1610 and reasonably fast. Installation: A breeze.
Ink cartridges: Buy the "XL" versions, stands for extra large I guess. Except at the printing start: For some reason after you hit "Print" it takes 3-5 seconds of "Nothing is Happening".
ever heard of a printer that does. setup was easy. this is a nice printer. i would recommend this printer. it does not come with a USB cable but so what. easy to use. ok so i got this thing 24 hours ago but its a nice printer.I bought it to replace my old lexmarks printer.the ink cartridges are not hard to install.and there cheaper then the ones used on my old printer.
For now I'm very satisfied. Works and looks great. Only complaint is that someone told me these newer printer cartridges don't hold as much ink as the older ones, so guess that could get expensive over time.
