HP LaserJet P1006 Printer Reviews

Bought this printer TWICE (one used here on Amazon, and one open box from a store) and neither worked. Poor design all around. I bought the 1606 instead. Hopefully that's the more durable one of the current HP's. Thought this would be a good "speed increaser" over my old warhorse 1100's, but it's a flimsily-made step down instead.

In the past I spent over $100.00 for a small printer...the size of a wax paper box. It froze up after one year. Then I purchased another...the same size and it too...froze up. They were well known brand names. I needed one for traveling and decided on this one and it works perfect with my laptop. It holds a lot of paper and prints fast. Sure, it's a little bigger but it fits into a suit case or in the back seat. It always works...and the ink cartridge lasts a long time for me. It is just a smaller version of my bigger HP printer...and it always works. What more could you want? One last thing...it installs just fine on my new laptop with Windows 7.

I've owned laser printers from HP, Canon, Oki, Brother, Lexmark, and Samsung. Without a doubt, this printer is the worst.

Most of the time, it refuses to print. Sometimes it'll flash it's little orange light for not apparent reason. Other times it just sits there. In any event, it only prints 1 in 10 times I try.

The HP drivers don't tell you what's wrong (and I've tried on both Windows and Mac OS X 10.6).

Don't buy this thing.

I purchased my printer at Best Buy for $100. It lists online for $174 which I'm surprised. I would definitely buy the HP cartridges, haven't found a generic toner cartridge to print high quality prints. If you need cheapo prints (the generic is ok); however if you're printing labels and resumes, you should buy the HP ink cartridges, since it's a richer quality (doesn't smear).

I purchased a dell laser printer that was very large cost me $450, and this little HP printer has a better ink quality print than my more expensive dell laser jet printer. I would even buy the dell ink cartridges from dell.

HP is such a better brand and a better company. Great overall value and excellent print quality with HP's laser printers.

We have a few of these in our office. Perfect for plain old office printing with no fancy features. Very low ink consumption.
