- Processor: AMD's Athlon 64 X2 5000+ dual-core processor is built for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, which will require a processor with significant power. Dual-core technology is like having two processors working together, each one taking care of different applications, so power-users actually experience greater performance when multiple applications are running. Digital media enthusiasts will appreciate the enhancements while simultaneously working in high-definition video and photo editing and audio mixing programs. It includes such AMD features as HyperTransport Technology (which increases the communication between integrated circuits) and Enhanced Virus Protection.
This 2.6 GHz processor offers a system bus with speeds up to a blazing 2000 MHz and each core offers a 512 KB L2 cache--for a 1 MB total. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.) - Hard Drive: The extra large 400 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space, perfect for storing a vast multimedia collection or for editing digital video. This SATA hard drive has a 3Gb/s interface speed that enables up to 300MB/s data transfer rates (double the speed of the current SATA interface of 1.5Gb/s).
This Slimline PC also includes a drive bay that fits an optional HP Pocket Media Drive, which enables you to add up to 160 GB of additional storage. The Pocket Media Drive also works with any USB-enabled PC, for easy transferring of multimedia files from other computers in your home. - Memory: The 2 GB of installed RAM (2 x 1024 MB DDR2) maximizes the capacity for this PC, and it also offers a top-of-class 667 MHz speed. The additional capacity helps boost the amount of available video RAM that's shared with this notebook's video card.
- DVD/CD Drive: This multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 8x DVD-R DL Write Once, 8x DVD+R DL Write Once, 16x DVD+R, 8x DVD+RW, 16x DVD-R, 6x DVD-RW, 12x DVD-RAM, 40x CD-R, 32x CD-RW write speeds and 40x CD-ROM, and 16x DVD-ROM read speeds.
This LightScribe DVD+/-RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art. - Keyboard & Mouse: This desktop comes with an HP multimedia keyboard and optical mouse (both PS/2) and remote control.
Video & Audio This desktop features an integrated NVidia GeForce 6150 SE graphics/video card with up to 623 MB of shared video memory (allocated from the system RAM). NVidia's exclusive TurboCache technology allows direct rendering from the GPU to system memory by leveraging the bi-directional PCI Express bandwidth. The TurboCache Manager dynamically allocates memory for maximum system performance while intelligent software algorithms maximize application performance. It also offers an integrated audio card that can produce high definition surround sound configurable to 6 speakers. Networking, Connectivity & Expansion This desktop has an integrated 54g wireless LAN that's fully compatible with 802.11b/g wireless networks. For expansion, this Slimline desktop has one PCI slot (occupied), one PCI-E x16 slot (available), one 5.25-inch external bay (occupied), and one internal 3.5-inch bay (occupied). HP Pavilion S3220N Slimline Desktop PC (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5000+, 2 GB RAM, 400 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium) Reviews
I've had it less than a month and four or five times a day the internet won't work, the printer has a mind of its own, and on, and on, and on. The worst possible computer experience imaginable. Totally worthless piece of junk. NEVER. Avoid. I've used computers for fifteen years, and NEVER have I seen anything like this.
This is a very quiet computer. You can be watching a television show and it will freeze up. I'm up in the air about recommending this to anyone else. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was going to freeze up as often as it does. But.
But I do like HP. Sometimes the computer will sleep and need to be restarted before it will come back on.
Perhaps I have a dud.
The design is wonderful.
granted this could be me. it freezes up quite often.
But I really don't think so. I have had this for around three months.
and. Minesweeper. it remains valid. I personally believe they should do away with Vista basic and the other version (Can't remember now) and just lunch Vista Home Premium as the kick off for a decent price.
you would think laptops and PDAs are the only hotshots that can move from point A to point B. Blazing Fast: I'm a person who's had the experience using very high tech and fast computers whether professionally or personally. World of Warcraft and Flyff are two impressive online games that's worth checking out. it's portable. Vista Home Premium is a true Vista OS experience for beginners, Intermediates, and Professionals. my mind has been change with the WoW Factor. Vista Premium is nothing like basic and the other flimsy they put together for a quick buck. why.
what surprises me i that i can really create professional looking flyer templates, resumes, and newsletter from scratch in Microsoft Word without needing to buy Ms Publisher. - And that's it for the goods. But after experience Home Premium. i wish they were Wireless. So here we go,. 1). 3).
I have the trial version currently and i'm planning on purchasing the real deal when i have the cash. this little machine packs the punch of the big guys yet small enough and sleek enough to lay horizontal/vertical somewhere on the entertainment center with the right hook ups for a true "In Your Face, Dude Don't Touch" entertainment experience. lol. 4). I honestly toss the old getting a Wii or PS3 for the summer from my mind because of how impressed i was in seeing the graphics hands-on. Yes reviewer, i haven't forgotten to mention that it's the new Graphics Processor that's built-in to this slimline model.
2). The Bad. In addition, you can go wireless. CD Burning & DVD Burning should be in another category of its own for the positives, but it's all gravy. You can't get it anywhere at that price from nowhere else. Profession: Microsoft suite programs 07-8 (Though expensive) is worth the price. It really is.
lol. It comes with its own little wireless antenna at the back. are all concerns of today's generation. YES. Overall, i definately recommend this slimeline as a must have.
it honestly felt i was watching TV in High Def. or the new Age of Emperors to juggle with. (Does take smudges and fingerprints if used on a daily basis) i would say at least every month and a half with a dusk cloth should do. Chess. Opening up numerous applications at once doesn't slow the computer down nor hogs up memory usage because of the double process built right in. maybe it's time to give HP a call. old Card games. lol.
get with the program. Keyboard and mouse are standard. Secondly, the new outlook express known as Mail is awesome. Because it's easy to maneuver, i love the tabs, GUI is easy on the eyes, tons of options and customizations, and best of all to me it seems that Microsoft created the programs to be more insync with each other.
i asure you there's more. Being able to create and maintain one's web site should be a breeze for all those entrepreneurs because of the huge Hard Drive, large RAM, and power saving options. give us Halo. i'm still figuring out how to. you know they always attach the extras) of all different genres of games to try & buy or play for free. But it does offer built in extras (It's from HP.
The Media Center has every thing and more to make a long story short. Sorry Bill Gates, but geesh. -. I wish there was a slice of pie snuggled together in all that wrappings that came in the box. The Media Center is off the hook. The nice thing about watching TV on my new Flat Screen 24-inch monitor is the color is crispier than on my hold TV, sound quality improved. but good.
all i can say for these two is BlaZing Fast. The Good:. It has everything and more.
It's an awesome buy. Watching DVD's, Recording DVD's, Recording Live TV Shows, Burning Games, Playing CDs, Pictures, iTunes & MP3's, Audio Mixing & Splicing, Designing, Animations, Web site creations, softwares, etc. can i saw breath taking. Entertainment: ugh. Vista games suck. It's been almost 3 months since i purchase, which makes this review valid.
Secondly, it's great for playing video games. Updates, It's been almost 3 more months since i gave this review. Fast Free Delivery. Stylish: It's call the [Slimline] for a reason. All you need is a good software for web site development and you're set. This computer can act as both. i use to be a vista hater and a Oh i'm sticking with XP so don't tell me smash kind of attitude. 1).
lol. waaay more that i don't have the time to add which is worth checking out and the fact that as more software continues to grow with the future and vista the possibilities are endless. Rebate is not as easy to get as they make it seems. In addition, i found out that it has built in LiteScribe Technology which allows you to Laser zap your CDs into sweeet designs instead of using paper, gluesticks, and glitters to make an appealing CD lable i integrate mines with aol so i can have that upgraded outlook business feel (without the ads) when checking my email. And YES This computer can handle them.
Lastly, it requires little cleaning. All you have to do to Watch Cable TV via Media center is. lol. 2). (lol too easy) hook the cable to the back of the CPU, make sure you have a great monitor or TV with VGA, HDD, or SVGA connection, put batteries (included) in remote (comes with desktop & keyboard), and you're good to go. 0).
3).
You can not beat the quality for the price. I would highly recommend this computer for anyone who is looking for speed and reliability at a reasonably price.
First they sent us a hard drive to replace ourselves and when we called for assistance they told us customers should never open the tower and replace it themselves. Buy a MAC. The early problems were caused by Vista but the hard drive crashed and we have had no luck with the HP tech help. THEN they sent back the tower saying it was fixed and it has the same problem.
This PC has nice features, they just don't work. We can't even boot it up. We bought this in early January and have had nothing but trouble with it from the second week on. THEN we had to send in the whole tower plus send back the first hard drive.
I spent over an hour on the phone with HP yesterday only to be told that my current problem was the same as my first and someone else would have to call me back within 48 hours.
