And control content from up to 10 feet away with the HP Mobile Remote Control that can be stored in the ExpressCard slot for convenience.

Optimized for mobile performance, it's powered by the 2.2 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-64 dual-core processor, which offers 64-bit computing capability and higher throughput for simultaneous computing tasks. Other features include a 250 GB hard drive, 4 GB of installed RAM (maximizing capacity), quad-mode Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth connectivity, multi-format/dual-layer LightScribe DVD+/-RW drive (which also burns CDs), ExpressCard slot, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 video/graphics card with 527 MB of shared video RAM, and Gigabit Ethernet.

It comes preinstalled with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 1), which includes all of the Windows Media Center capabilities for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center. In addition to easily playing your DVD movies and managing your digital audio library, you'll be able to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV). Vista also integrates new search tools throughout the operating system, includes new parental control features, and offers new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures.

The Basics

  • Processor: The 2.2 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-64 processor offers a dual-core architecture, which delivers additional computing resources to help expand your PCâ??s capabilities by providing higher throughput and simultaneous computing--increasing your performance by up to 80 percent. You'll be able to perform multiple tasks such as digital rendering and gaming all while running virus scan or other background tasks seamlessly thanks to the innovative Direct Connect Architecture. And it's designed to handle simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. You'll enjoy long battery life thanks to the AMD PowerNow! power management technology, which delivers performance on demand and can extend system battery life up to 65 percent. And the AMD Digital Media XPress technology delivers stellar multimedia performance and playback on digital entertainment such as games, streaming video and audio, DVDs, and music.

Each processing core has a 512 KB L2 cache (for a 1 MB total), and this processor can deliver up to a 1600 MHz system bus for lightning quick computing reflexes. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)

  • Hard Drive: The extra-large 250 GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 RPM) provides more than enough capacity for storing a large audio and video library, as well as extra space required for video editing. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to Firewire and USB 2.0.

  • Memory: The 4 GB of installed RAM (PC5300, 2 x 2 GB) maximizes the capacity for this notebook. It also offers a top-of-class 667 MHz speed and boosts the amount of available video RAM that's shared with this notebook's video card.

  • DVD/CD Drive: This multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 4x DVD-R DL Write Once, 2.4x DVD+R DL Write Once, 8x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW, and 40x CD-ROM speeds.

This LightScribe DVD±RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art.

  • Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a 101-key keyboard and a touchpad with on/off button and dedicated vertical/horizontal Scroll Up/Down pad. It also includes two quick-launch buttons (HP QuickPlay Music and DVD).

  • Integrated Fingerprint Reader: A fingerprint reader offers advanced security by using fingerprints instead of standard passwords to access online accounts, such as banks and e-mail. To set up access, each fingerprint is associated with a password through Verisoft Access Manager. Verisoft Single Sign On (SSO) stores user names and passwords to an unlimited number of sites and automatically enters logon credentials. If more than one person uses the notebook PC, each can use a fingerprint to logon to a computer user account and access preset preferences and files.
Screen, Video & Audio
The 12.1-inch touchscreen-enabled WXGA high-definition LCD can swivel 180 degrees, providing optimal angles for viewing DVD movies and business presentations, and it folds flat for working in tight travel spaces such as airplanes or trains. It has a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution. Video is powered by the integrated Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics/video card, which provides up to 527 MB of video memory shared with the system memory. It features NVidia's PureVideo technology--which provides great picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color, and precise image scaling for video content--and full support for Microsoft DirectX 9.0 for stunningly realistic cinematic effects for all DirectX-compatible applications.

The Altec Lansing speakers provide exceptional sound, and a pair of stereo earbud headphones with volume controls is included. You'll be able to privately share enjoyment of multimedia with a friend via the dual headphone jacks. One of the headphone jacks is also compatible with SPDIF digital audio output for home theater surround sound.

Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
Be ready for the next platform in wireless connectivity with this notebook's integrated quad-mode Wi-Fi chip. Based on the draft 802.11n Wi-Fi specification, it offers up to five times the performance and twice the wireless range as existing 802.11g wireless. It's also backward compatible with 802.11b/g networks (commonly found in home routers and Wi-Fi hotspots) as well as 802.11a networks (which has a higher throughput, but more limited range--great for closed office environments). You also get super-fast wired connectivity, with a Gigabit Ethernet port (10/100/1000).

With the Bluetooth connectivity, you can communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones. This notebook includes a next-generation ExpressCard 34 card slot (replacing the PCMCIA slot), which lets you take advantage of thinner, faster, and lighter expansion cards for even more advanced wireless, networking, storage, and security features. You get a good offering of connectivity options:

  • 3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • Analog video out: 1 VGA monitor port and 1 S-Video port for connecting to a TV or projector
  • 1 ExpressCard 34
  • 1 headphone jack (with S/PDIF digital audio compatibility) and 1 microphone jack
  • 1 notebook expansion port 3 (for use with the HP xb3000 Expansion Base or the HP Notebook QuickDock)
  • 2 consumer IR (infrared)--1 on notebook, 1 on LCD panel
  • 5-in-1 memory card reader (Secure Digital, MultiMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, xD Picture Card)
  • Gigabit Ethernet port for 10/100/1000 networking
  • Integrated 56K modem (V.90)

You can also use Windows Media Center to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV) and to access new kinds of online entertainment content. Computers that include Windows Vista Home Premium and an auxiliary Windows SideShow display will also allow you to access key data even when your computer is off. It is also easier than ever to share files between other PCs in your household and to manage your laptop computer settings to more securely connect via Wi-Fi.

Every edition of Windows Vista provides the essential tools and technologies to help protect you whether you are browsing the Internet, connecting to a wireless network, or just reading e-mail. HP Pavilion TX2120US 12.1-inch Laptop (AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual Core TL-64 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) Reviews

I can't leave it on my lap for more then 15 minutes. At first I liked the rotating and touch screen, but the laptop produces so much heat that its unbarebale. I have had this laptop for over six months now and i am really getting uncomfortable with it. The battery life is very short.

-Large HD. Each time I got someone else who said "oh he's busy right now, I'll send him an email to let him know you called" and I got nothing in returnNOTHING. Hot to the point of overheating and shutting down completely, even if you're in the middle of something.

I have the tx2110us, purchased from Amazon, and there are quite a few attractive features that first drew me to this laptop/tablet, but after owning it for about 4 months now, I've found myself to be quite unhappy. What's worse is they reformatted my HD, so I had to uninstall all the crapware (which there is a ton of by the way). Speaking of geniuses at HP, once you're tech support escalates into sending your laptop in for repair, they assign you a case manager. I can only hope that the geniuses at HP can figure out a way to solve this because it's getting quite annoying. So I'll go over the good stuff first:.

-Fingerprint scanner works reasonably well (handy way to keep computer secure, although it is pretty finicky at times). -Built in wireless (a/b/g/n)/bluetooth technology. I can only wait to see what kind of repairs they performed on it this time (which probably won't fix the problem). My recommendation: if you keep this computer on "power saver" setting, delete all the crapware, you may be able to enjoy this computer with it's abundant features. I then tried 5 times 5 times. I've changed the power settings as well, which is what the some of the reviewers have suggested, and it still overheats. -Swivel screen & entertainment hardware make for good portable movie watching.

I've sent my laptop in twice so far (I'm waiting for it to get back after the second time around), and the first time, they said the replaced the motherboard. -Lots of RAM. For myself (and I do consider myself somewhat computer savvy), I would like to enjoy the performance characteristics of my laptop without a hitch, & if you're like that, you probably don't want to buy this computer because you'll spend an hour or more getting rid of the crapware & you won't be able to run it at "high performance" because it will overheat and shut down. -Webcam is neat. First off, yes, the tx2110us does get hotvery hot.

He tried calling me twice to get a confirmation that my computer was returned safely, and that was it. I got so frustrated and angry. Didn't workstill overheats. to get a hold of him to tell him that the problem wasn't fixed. -Touchscreen and supporting software are very cool: software & hardware combination gets you a realistic tablet that is even pressure sensitive (the harder you push on the screen, the thicker the line gets).

Now onto my gripes and complaints:.

- its quite loud. What a horrible failure, if this was a human, it would be a bum on the streets for not working. - graphics card is horrible, but as is all on laptops. - Fingerprint reader needs to read 4 times to understand who you are. - HEAVY. a bum on the streets if it were human - for not working. - it looks good on paper but acts as if its got half the performance it claims. - expect blue screen of death 2-5 times per week.

- it overheats excessively, will literally burn your lap. - Touch Screen inaccurate. - EXTREMELY SLOW. - Windows Media Center cant be handled and crashes.

This system produces a lot of heat (will literally burn off your lap, if you hold it as a laptop). Do yourself a favor. This can't stand upto the high demands of today's applications. Processor calculations per second - 4.8. The HP Advisor program is the main culprit most times when it does leave a clue. and not to mention the fan noise; far from quiet by any means and only gets a Vista Performance score of 2.4 and you will easily notice how slow it runs when running even simple video editing or Photoshop editing. Vista seems to be worse than Windows ME with its intermittent "Auto restarts" and crashes, leaving one clueless most times.

Got a TX2110US model, AMD Dual core X2 with 3 gigs of RAM and the 250 G HDD and boy am thoroughly disappointed with it or what. Memory operations per second - 4.6. The tablet drivers don't load up one or 2 out of 10 reboots. Should simply have stayed with an Intel based Dual Core. Performance scores reported in Vista are below:. (so much for using the tablet). If you really need mobility, buy yourself a decent PDA. Now going through "Claims".

The SD card reader quit in a month and had to mail the system for repairs. They had to replace the main board and ship back. After shipment arrived, there is a ding on the case. HP customer service really sucks if you think Dell was bad. don't fall a prey to its size and mobility. 3D Business and gaming Graphics - 2.4. Desktop Performance for Windows Aero - 2.8. Disk data transfer rate - 5.2.

They are 100% correct. It over performs and I'm extremely happy with this product. It's a weird design. I originally purchased this laptop for road and travel but I love it so much I use it instead of my desktop.

- Large hard drive space (250 GB). It's another design flaw. CONS. I only have one program that I could not load on the laptop. This a problem for some users, especially in sunlight.

The base gets so hot that you can't leave it on your lap. In addition I was worried about the 64bit version not working with my current hardward and software programs. In fact handwriting is more easily recognized than print. - Tablet functionality is incredible (it's amazing how well the pen works and recognizes handwriting without training. But the battery extensions 1 to 2 inches beyond the PC frame. - Fingerprints (Another minor issue is that the stylist black cover is also a fingerprint magnet). In fact, Office 2007 works much, much better on my laptop than my Windows XP desktop.

However, on the plus side the extension works like a handle when using the tablet function and holding the computer in your hand. And the screen dullness is minor). The free addition of One Note greatly enhances the tablet function). I use the PC for business and personal use and don't care about this because I only care about functionality.

- Heat (as you do your research you'll notice everyone talks about how hot the battery gets. I suggest you buy this product. - Size (The PC is just the right size for me. On sum, this is an EXCELLENT computer.

- Young look (Another minor issue is for business users the PC looks like it's for the younger non-professional market. - Screen (the touchscreen has a film on it that dulls the screen somewhat. At the same time, it's not too large or heavy to carry). Please note that you won't lose the pen because it is attached to the PC by the same string that causes the pen to become dislodged).

- Battery (the battery life if fine for me. - Feature rich (WIFI, bluetooth, 3 USB ports, phone & Ethernet ports, DVD burner, etc). PROS. That's because the company hasn't written a Vista 64bit version yet but they claim it's on the way). - Eye catcher (while this is not really important, it's definitely feels good when you pull out your laptop and others in the room ooh and ahh). It often catches on things which pulls the pen out of it's socket. I use a magazine or something else to place under the PC. - Vista 64bit ( I was concerned about Vista because of all the bad things i had heard about it.

Vista has been stable, fast and a pleasure to work with. - Pen string (the stylus/pen attaches to the PC via a string (not really a string) that extends well beyond the PC frame. However, as a fair reviewer I think it should be noted). (the pad is award at first but the dimples on the pad make the cursor easier to control). It a minor issue for me because the screen can be rotated to practically any position to avoid glare from light.

- Touchpad. I plan to purchase a cooler). Especially because the PC bottom is too hot to handle otherwise). I bought the HP tx2120us which was cheaper than buying the same components and features separately.

Buy this laptop with confidence." Not too small that the keyboard is difficult to use or screen hard to read. I did a lot of due diligence before buying this laptop. - Fingerprint scanner (you can scan all 10 fingers if you want despite what some reviews are saying).

- Media (remote control, dual head phones and media playback is excellent). - Extremely fast processor (I often have more than 5 programs running at the same time (Word, Excel, Outlook, Firefox, PowerPoint, Abode PDF and Photoshop) with no significant slowing in speed or freezing or crashing).
