HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier (#Q8220A) Reviews
Printing works fine with Vista but if you need to scan then look elsewhere, not worth spending your time trying to figure it out, HP is unwilling/incompetent of offering troubeshooting help.
I use Win XP sp3 btw. The printer is a bit slow and a little noisy but not any noisier than other printers. It works as advertised meaning that I think it's an overall great printer. The office jet is now the second printer. Out of the box yesterday it has completed every task I have asked of it. The drivers work without a glitch and all functions on the actual printer/scanner are adjustable. As for me.
This replaced an HP 6210 office jet. Many reviews talk about the pricey ink and it doesn't last very long so I will have to see about that. This is a great printer even if I had paid the $169-199. I'm not computer illiterate and I don't expect more than what the box says. After trying the Kodak 5100 and having a miserable experience, I purchased this printer. If you want a $250 printer, you get what you pay for. Software is useful and easy to use.
This was a hit and it appears a home run. The future will tell more but in the past HP has always replaced any and all products that have broken. I just got lucky and found a great printer at a great price. Seems many printers under $200 are hit or miss.
The pictures side by side with store pictures leads one to believe these are from a retailer not a home printer. After being a user of Canon, Epson, and HP I always seem to return to HP. The scanner is ok and the print is fine. I must add that I purchased mine for $25 closeout at staples as it was the last one in the store.
I print mostly in draft anyway, so I use little ink. Most people write a bad review bc they didn't read the box.
I also never used it too much because it would always say I was low on ink. I rarely used it because I had another printer in the home to use. I have had this item for a couple years now. I'm not so sure I like the individual inks. I put in 2 new color cartridges.
Too much money on ink if this keeps up. So, either it does not work well, or it is an INK HOG. So, I decided maybe they were drying out and I decided to buy new cartridges and start using it. After printing out 3-4 TEXT ONLY pages, my new ink was already down to 80% left.
Still, I would recommend it because it does all things well, and every such machine has to have ink.
It seems like I'm always changing printer cartridges.
The ink isn't that expensive.
One way to help that is by setting the default printer settings to "draft mode," but it is a consumer nonetheless.
It prints beautifully, scans great (though the software isn't as intuitive as my old scanner was), and makes quick and easy copies directly from the machine.
I have had this for about a year and a half now.
I really like it a lot meets all my needs as a home schooling mom and online entrepreneur.
It works flawlessly and takes up much less space on my desk than a printer and a scanner, as I had in the past.
My only fault with it is that it uses a lot of ink.
There is something always going wrong, it can't connect to the pc or it thinks there is no ink in the cartridges but there is. When I replace the cartridges it says they are only half full. I just assumed that it would get better and that I would get used to it's loud noises and it's slow thinking and spooling. Apparently HP thinks they can get by with poor quality. So keep that in mind before you purchase this printer. It's pretty bad when engineers, multiple engineers can't figure out what is going wrong with it. My family has been a huge HP printer fans, not so much on their computers (poor hardware esp. I have had nothing but issues with this printer from the get go.
Anyways, I received this printer as a college gift for starting in on engineering. This was an expensive printer and for it to give me this many problems is frustrating. On a final note, I looked up online help for these issues, and it's pretty common for these issues to arise. in the hard drives).
