HP ScanJet 7650 Flatbed Scanner with Auto Document Feeder (L1940A#B1H) Reviews
For the price of about $460 that I paid for this. It creates searchable PDFs, and I simply scan in a document through the ADF, and it creates a file, subbed by the month, and I'm able to later search the documents by the month. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000YA1XVG/ref=nosim/gizmodo-20.
I've been using this device for about 12 months now and I'm happy enough with it. I think we all expected less hassle with jams. But for the hundreds of documents I scan in, mainly office papers, it does the work well enough.
I also use the flat bed for documents that are strangely shaped, or look as though they won't fit the feeder, but those are rare for me. Perhaps in the future, I might try this product which seems to get stellar reviews:. Yes, it does seem to jam a lot, and when it does, it does seem to be a pain to get it out, depending on where it is. Overall, I'm happy with it, but I do wish I got the item I linked to above instead, because I don't think I would've expected as much for only $260.
Tech support will get it to print to their crappy software, but your computer will not recognize the driver. If you are running vista, save your money. Do not buy this scanner. You will not be able to use it with any purchased software.
I have also had problems with a blue line running through my docs (if in color, grey if in b/w)and there is no way to clean the glass. I have had problems with this scanner and document jams in the adf also.and they are regular 8.5 x 11 sheets. The printer does not even arrive with perfectly clean glass so everything has smudges all over it.
As you can see these now cost less, and I can understand why. It really is trash. Doesn't accept software that is for scanning. Still a lower price for something that doesn't work is no bargain. We use a lot of HP products and generally have been satisfied. $700 down the toilet. Doesn't scan, doesn't feed.
Tha's what I paid from Amazon. I was surprised. Doesn't come with appropriate scanner software. This one is the exception.
3. Documents sometimes jam in the feeder and are difficult to remove/pull out. Will not scan document information in light blue colors. One advanced feature that the HP Scanjet 7650 has is the ability to scan 35mm negatives.
(Something like 144 pictures can be put on a CD-ROM). 2. If they do, they are easier to pull out. The drawback is that it takes a long time. I used this feature and it works.
(When that happens, I sometimes have to completely shut down my computer and restart). 1. I do not recommend this scanner. Sometimes cuts off lower 1/4th of the document. It's a lot easier just to take the negatives to a nearby photo lab (Walmart and CVS Pharmacy are near me) and have the technician transfer the negatives (which convert to pictures) onto a CD-ROM for around $7.00.
If you need to scan just documents, buy a Xerox scanner. Problems:. Our office also has a Xerox Documate 250 vertical feeder scanner that is superior to the HP Scanjet.Feeding is much easier and documents rarely jam.
