The IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Media 3599 enables ordering data cartridges, cleaning cartridges, and cartridge magazines for the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Drive 3592 and the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Drive 3590. Using the various 3599 models, the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Cartridge 3592, 3590 High Performance Cartridge Tapes, and 3590 Extended High Performance Cartridge Tapes can be ordered with labeling and initialization services. The 3599 allows customers the opportunity to order tape cartridges with specific labeling types and initialization which will simplify the overall ordering procedure. Labeling and initialization (L&I) services support end-user requirements for tape cartridge serialization and tape management. It provides end-users with custom cartridge serialization while relieving them from significant setup tasks associated with label application and cartridge formatting. L&I is a requirement for cartridges used with automated tape library such as the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Automated Tape Library 3494.
