Intellivision Lives Reviews
If you had an Intellivision in the 80's, you need this trip down memory lane.
I baby pretty much everything I own so I know my Playstation 2 is in good condition. It moans and groans like it's about to break and it also makes the disc sound like it's spinning a hundred times faster than any other disc. I've only played the disc twice due to the fact that I don't want my system to break. I tried every game even though I mainly bought it for Snafu and Shark Shark and found, just like all the reviewers, that some of the games are unplayable, which is fine for the price, it's just cool to get the retro stuff.
I'm not sure if it's just my system or not but this game makes my Sony sound like it's dying. I would've rated this 4.5 stars if not for the disc problem since Shark Shark and Snafu play great (and the Snafu soundtrack is still AWESOME.). Unless someone tells you different, expect a system breaking disc upon purchase. I've never had any other game or DVD cause this problem.
Unless I purchased a lemon system (although 2 yrs old w/no prior problems) or a lemon game, this game is very avoidable. Unfortunately, my rating is based on the sounds my Playstation 2 system makes when playing this game. (which, as a result, causes the system cooling fan to run constantly).
Like wish we could get the game Burgertime and the Tron Game but do like also wish instructions could be printed
My only complaint is that some of my favorite Intellivision-unique games from the day were created by other companies that do not have software included, such as Sewer Sam, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, and Microsurgeon. X-BOX CD I mean) that are playable at whim, and in their original form. Cudos for all the extras for hardcore gamers like me to browse through, including programmer interviews, unreleased games, commercials, and unplayable junk that still brings me back. Next on my wish list: modern day updates of some of these classics. and with that out of the way, may I say that Intellivision Lives.
Imagine B-17 Bomber with modern technology utilized, or a Nightstalker sequel. All the time that I've spent playing Morrowind over the past few years pales in comparison to those grueling hours playing Utopia back in 1984. My fingers have bled much less than I remember, and games like Astrosmash and B-17 Bomber as fun today as they were originally. Crave Games, you have made a grown man very happy.
Of course, in the world of CGI and high-paced video gaming that takes days to conquer, Nightstalker might take its toll on the average attention span within 15 minutes. One of the big complaints I've heard from gurus is that the controls make playability virtually impossible, but I disagree. Not me, however, as all I really need is this game, a case of beer, and some Smiths blaring on the radio to make my night perfect.
Still, with 60 games (around 20 of them still hold up today in my opinion), how can I rationally complain. is the greatest treasure in my video game library today. So many games packed into one cartridge (errr.
And the background music makes me want to pound my head into a wall after a few minutes. The games all have a different feel, sounds are not quite right etc. This is almost as bad as the 25 in 1 controller. The whole layout is bad, and takes place in an arcade. Spend the money at a yard sale and buy the real console because this is horrible.
Intellivision deserves much better than the cr*p they are putting out. Boy did they really screw this game up. Some games I can't even get to start. First of all, you can tell that this is not emulated. Of all the "retro" out there, they really screwed up Intellivision big time.
Funny the intellivision was a HOME system.
