Iomega eGo USB 2.0 320 GB Rugged Portable Hard Drive (Ruby Red) Reviews
In a home emergency, this is one thing I would grab. It's the size of a pocket flask and requires no external power, just the power supplied through the USB port. In the age of digital photos, videos, financial records, etc., a quality portable hard drive is an absolute must-have. With monthly incremental backups, it should take a few years before I actually fill it up. I bought this to store backups from all three of my family's computers. This is an excellent product from Iomega.
If you want to frequently access the files on the hard drive (e.g. So you cannot browse the folders within the backed up data file in Windows Explorer. Ting. It's also less bulkier. But yeah - this is quite reliable, no problems in the past month that I have used it.
But remember that it backs up in a single data file. But at least today we're going smooth. But mine looks pretty with the steel casing ends and the metallic color. OK, I confess - I bought this one because it was cheaper ($88) than Passport - happy. I know, I know - your Western Digital's Passport is quite lighter than my Iomega. So make sure when you choose your buddy, it is a 'portable hard drive' and not just 'external hard drive'.
The free (I like the sound of 'free') backup software from EMC is good too. OK - so in short - get this one if you consider looks more than smaller size. songs, pictures, documents), you should copy them directly using Windows Explorer instead of the backup software. Very simple to take automatic backups. That will save you a few bucks for your coffee too. Also, since my 250GB buddy's 'portable,' it means it does not need an AC adapter to run it - it just runs on USB. Alright - I understand, a month's time is pretty short to know if it's going to be my friend for long.
No way it is going to work. The box said 320 GB. Seagate includes such a cable. I'd suggest buying from a more reliable company. I've got a Mac laptop with a USB port on each side. I'd suggest buying a better brand. Losing over 20 GB is a significant loss. Minus one more star.
Have you ever had that feeling when you open up a very high quality product that you have complete confidence in it and you made a good decision getting it. Minus 2 stars. The distance between the included drive is about 5 inches. Iomega should know better and send a cable that reaches both ports. As soon as I opened the box and saw that the included USB cable would not work, I had a sinking feeling about the drive. I borrowed a cable to see if the drive would fire up. Well, this one is just the opposite. It did, but it only has 298 GB of space.
I use it to hold external old files and it's handling them nicely. I really like the portable aspect and the fact that you don't have to plug it into anything but the USB port and it's good to go. Compatible with my MacbookPro June07. This is a cool little harddrive. The only problem I have with this harddrive is that it occasionally disconnects itself.
I want to reformant my hard drive with out losing all of my music & photos. Came in very nice packaging, delivery was timely & worked as described. This product was as it was advertised. This proved to be an ecnmomical & convenient way to back up my data.
