Iomega Zip 100 Portable USB Drive (PC/Mac) Reviews

I am still using it, and it works. The disks have a higher failure rate than the drive, but hey-still working after all these years. I bought my first ZIP drive (parallel port) a long time ago, and replaced it with a USB/AC-adapter model a while later.

It worked just fine until 2002 when the eject function stopped working and it wouldn't accept any disks. Got this drive for an original iMac back in the winter of 1998. It wasn't worth going through the trouble to get fixed, so a new model was purchased.

I understand the newer models are bus-powered. Now if only zips would come down in price. Mine's been working flawlessly since I bought it in early 2000. If for some reason you can't have a power strip, that's a concern, but I do wish the AC adapter was smaller.Gotta love the way it shoots non-Iomega zip disks half way across the room, too.I recommend this drive for low-cost, low demand storage and backup.

There is Iomega software included on an installation CD-ROM, but the product is sold without a Zip Disk. This drive does not include any blank media.

This product is probably good for beginners or the occasional computer user who wish to save a few files. It is to be noted though that mine broke down within a year. A cool startup tool but don't put too much hopes in it. The fact that it is external allows you to switch it from one machine to the other.
