The CR8CD Clock Radio Music System by iSymphony features a built-in universal dock for iPod that charges your iPod while its docked. iPod Shuffle Compatibility iSymphony products offer limited compatibility with both the original (white, first-generation) iPod shuffle and the second-generation model. iPod shuffle 1G: You may play back music stored on your first-generation shuffle though the USB port only if it is in MP3 format. Songs purchased from iTunes, songs in Sony ATRAC format, or songs purchased from some online music retailers cannot be played. To enable playback, it may be possible to convert your music to one of the playable compressed formats, or burn it to an audio CD, depending on the DRM restrictions. If you wish to play back songs that you have stored on your iPod shuffle, please refer to the user manual for instructions on connecting the shuffle's headphone output jack to the system's aux in inputs. iPod shuffle 2G: Second-generation shuffles are not compatible with iSymphony models for music playback through the USB port. It has all the features I wanted but the digital display did not work. I had to send it back.
I bought this because it is one of the only iPod docks/radios I found that has a CD player. It is good overall, though the iPod volume is limited and the display always being lit is very annoying. Since I want it on my nightstand, I have to cover it so I can sleep.
It's perfect for my kids' room - radio, CD, and iPod with lots of other functions. Works very well.
I bought this CD/radio combo to use in our kitchen with the hope that we would be able to listen to both the radio and CDs. The CD function works fine but the radio gets absolutely no reception, even with the antenna stretched almost to the ceiling.
I had originally ordered this unit for myself but it only works for iPods. It has now been moved into the hub of our house-my husband has an iPod with a larger capacity. It puts out great sound; we can listen to the radio, CD or iPod all with comparable quailty. It doesn't take up a lot of space and it has a large numerical display for the time. Although it doesn't fit the nedd for which it was originally purchased, we are extremely happy with it.
