Can Selleck make this character any better? Worth the watch.
This is a made for TV Movie starring Tom Selleck perfectly cast as Jesse Stone, a former L.A. Homicide detective. Robert Parker has written four Jesse Stone novels.
Jesse would be about 40 and Selleck fits the character perfectly, like a glove.
Jesse has left Los Angeles and big city life to take a job as police chief of a quiet, quaint New England town called Paradise, Massachusetts. He is divorced and a heavy drinking womanizer who misses his former wife. He still has not gotten over her after five years, even though they keep in touch by phone. He keeps his old habits of drinking and womanizing, but has committed to the new job. When several murders happen on his watch, he is forced to deal with his past. He is tough and yet has a good heart and through the difficult times he finds the inner strength to solve the crimes.
Even though Tom Selleck carries the movie, all the actors pull their weight to make this a riveting murder mystery. It is well worth the watch.
This is the second in a series of 5 DVD's of the Jesse Stone stories. Tom Selleck is a good actor who has nailed this character to a tee... an ex LA Homicide cop who falls into alcoholism after his wife has an affair and divorces him, the drinking cost him his job.
His last chance is being the Sheriff of a small north-eastern town called Paradise.
In this one he has to deal with a serial killer who's come to town and seems to take an interest in him personally. With twist in the plot, a good script and great acting - this a very enjoyable film.
I have all five of the series and waiting for the release of number six in 2010. I have enjoyed these movies so very much
Tom Selleck does a great job at bringing the character from the book to the screen! If you are a fan of Tom Selleck, or the book, you will not be disappointed! I think Selleck is the perfect actor to play this part. Great story that leaves you wanting to watch all of the movies in this series!
