The JVC RX-6000VBK is ready for state-of-the-art surround sound processing with built-in Dolby Digital and DTS Surround Sound decoding. This receiver features 100 watts x 5 min. (two front, one center, two rear speakers) RMS, both channels driven into into 8 ohms, 1kHz, 0.8% THD. Digital Acoustics Processor (DAP) with five preset sound fields (Theater/Hall/Live Club/Pavillion/Dance Club) digitally recreates these venues in your own home. AV COMPU LINK provides simple one touch operation between your JVC audio and video components. To connect the latest in digital audio sources, JVC provides two assignable digital inputs (one optical and one coaxial) for additional audio enjoyment.
Today's audio-video receivers incorporate more performance features than older receivers and they often do so at a better price. JVC's RX-6000VBK is an example of this trend. It decodes both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround, performs S-video switching, and delivers 100 watts across five channels--as well as offers six DSP modes for music and movies and a whopping 45 FM/AM station presets. The RX-6000VBK also has sophisticated control settings such as a variable crossover and a bass-management system, which will maximize the performance of any home-theater speaker system. The RX-6000VBK gets things off on the right foot with its intuitively arranged front panel. A larger-than-normal display window dominates the top half of the faceplate, while directly beneath it sit large, bar-shaped buttons for selecting sources, DSP (digital signal processing), and surround modes. Perhaps best of all, we like JVC's multifunction cursor, which controls bass and treble, subwoofer level, balance, speaker settings for surround, speaker delay settings, crossover frequency, dynamic range, and tuner presets. You also use it to assign digital inputs to the components of your choice. We're pleased that the RX-6000VBK offers S-video switching (DVD only, not for VHS) and coaxial as well as optical digital-audio inputs. We prefer coaxial and recommend you use this input for your DVD player, providing you have the output to match. On the downside, the RX-6000VBK lacks a front-panel video input, which is handy if you're a serious camcorder user. Another feature absent is 5.1-channel direct analog inputs--probably a tradeoff to maintain the low price. Since the receiver offers Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, this isn't a serious liability, but multichannel inputs offer the security of accommodating future surround formats. The RX-6000VBK's sound is clear, with a generally good balance, though it does veer slightly toward emphasizing the midrange and treble and has a tight if lean bass response. It successfully resolves instrumental textures and ambient cues. Through the RX-6000VBK, vocals sound precise and articulate, something we always welcome with music and something obviously important with DVD movies as well. Finally, JVC's Compu Link lets you control other JVC components with the RX-6000VBK's remote. All in all, this is a fine receiver. The center channel sound from this machine is plainly bad. And just try to get support. It's off the market by now, but don't bother spending the money.
The other star goes because my display window slowly stopped working. I have 2 problems with it. I had to plug my PS2 in through my VCR since the only video in are VCR and DVD. This is almost an ideal receiver. That knocks off one star. At first I could tap it and the display would work again, but finally it just quit, and this happened in less than a year. First, there are not enough video inputs. I'm sure it's a fluke - everyone gets a bad egg once in a while.
For the money this is one of the best receivers i have ever had the suround sound is excelent and if you ad a subwoofer you can get a great sound that matches up with any of the big priced receivers.
But this system is based on volume by number, not volume by position, so "30" for example, is just a relative position on the knob, not an fixed position. This device is very simple in appearance, use, and features, as mentioned its an entry level device and I give it 4 stars based on its position as an entry level system. Solid bass frequencies, included a bass expander, which proved too much for my parents' speaker system so we left it off.
This is a fantastic, entry level home theater system. A great price for the features, sound, and compatibility with other JVC products. It's a large, heavy, stable unit, and the sound, which is what this is supposed to be all about, is great.
I bought it for my parents last holiday (2000) with the JVC 5 disc CD changer, and when I connected the two with the little remote cable they provided, I was able to control both devices easily with one remote, and that was really neat. The manual is clear and easy to understand and read. The volume control is not "motorized" so when you adjust the volume from the remote, you can't see it move on the device itself.
It had more digital inputs, which I am sure I will need in the future. Big difference from the 6000. Should there be. BUT I do have a problem with this system.the remote seems to have a mind of it's own.It increases the volume up to the max on it's own. I still have this receiver and need it fixed. I decided to get a better AV receiver the Model RX-8000VBK.
Can I get a new remote to replace the defective one.Since I had the JVC system and it has the AV COMPU LINK, I thought it would be nice to connect it to a JVC 27" Model AV-27150 Television along with the S-video input. To start with I first purchased a JVC Model XV-M555BK DVD player. It seems that there are times that I must re-insert the DVD in order to get it to read.is this NORMAL. I can't believe that there are that many DVD's that freeze a frame for 500 milliseconds or more on a scene change as this unit does. [A friend of mine also bought a Model XV-M555BK DVD player and his locked in and would not release All three DVD's].Then I had to purchase a new receiver, one that has an optical digital input. I don't seem to see any difference from my SHARP 27" it replaced with just the composite video input while using the DVD player. The JVC over the SHARP has a very bad receiver front-end. I know that my lousy cable company has very bad control over the signal levels of their channels, but there are a lot more "snowy" channels with the JVC.
And if there is a lighting storm or some other similar type of scene changes, you guessed it.
SO. I purchased a JVC Model RX-6000VBK receiver.this unit will make the picture loose sync and roll whenever the scene changes.
UP button and a sneeze will trigger it.
It rolls/looses sync.
This one has great center, left and right rear and subwoofer outputs.
Is this due to the dual tuner, I would think that engineering would have corrected for this with a preamp to compensate for any loss due to the separation of the RF being split between TWO tuners.I have not even tried hooking up the new JVC S-Video VCR model HR-S3600U, afraid of what it may have wrong with it.
It was scary until I realized what was happening.
Also the output for the center, left and right rear and subwoofer speakers must be all at the max (+10) in order to hear anything out of them.what's the problem.
There seems not to be any real UP volume return system in the keypad for the Vol.
