I have owned several series of the q series. A series which runs back into the 1990's. The company goes back to the early sixties and it was always one of the best speaker companies from the uk. Bowers and Wilkins is the only company more highly regarded perhaps as far as english speakers go. The q series as far as speakers at this price point is classy and tight. These are speakers that are precision in sound quality.
Q became iq and now the newest iq series has been released out recently, while this older series on sale here are the last of previous series. However the new iQ series doesn't have a comparible smaller center channel to this one. The older Q series only usually had one center speaker per series as well. So this type of a smaller center is now gone for good. I use it as the rear speaker for my kef iq setup. It would work as front center too but the iq6c or the newer iq60c is a more powerful center. This now out of production speaker delivers tight sound and point of origin dynamics like all kef speakers. I like this one so much that I bought a second one for a seventh speaker for 7.1 surround sound. within a short while all the older series will be gone and the newer iq0 series will be the only game around kef wise. However at this price range kef has always been a top notch speaker and their Q or reference series is as good or better than any reference series out there. You can use this speaker for a smaller set up or a rear center speaker but like all the speakers out there that aren't huge you need a subwoofer for the hard bass frequencies. Anyway kef has done away with the smaller q center in the new series so this is it for a cheaper center. The iq series can really clearly reproduce music to movies with good precision and clarity and that's what you get with a kef speaker of any price.
