KEF KHT 3005 - Home theater speaker system - high-gloss black Reviews

Beautifully finished, and can be table or wall mounted without having to buy anything else. Each box is solidly built, with molded foam to keep the speakers intact while they are in shipment. Bass is plentiful but not boomy or harsh. I looked at a range of options including Bose (horridly overpriced for the sound they put out, but quite small), Anthony Gallo (wonderful, but pricy) and Orb. Dialog is clear even when watching a poorly mastered DVD.

Highly, highly recommended. I'm using a Denon 1909 and the KEFs (in a 7.1 configuration) and the system works very well. Crisp highs, solid bass. While I put looks secondary to sound, the KEFs are winners in the looks department as well. You know if they take this much care with packing their speakers, they probably took as much care in building them. The search for speakers for my new home theater setup was not easy.

I was about to purchase the Orb system, but came across a review of the KEF speakers that made me think they would be worth a look. The people at KEF did a great job packaging the system as well. (They also sell floor stands - got a pair of those for the surround speakers. So very glad I did.

Very nicely made, although rather pricy for stands). The subwoofer in particular is stunning - not boxy like most, but a donut shaped piece that can be placed upright or face down. While the Orbs are pretty good speakers, the KEF just blew them away. Granted, you need a decent receiver to drive these - any speaker will sound crapy if it is hooked to a low-end receiver.

Each piece also comes wrapped in a cloth pouch, which adds to the presentation. I was unwilling to compromise audio quality but, at the same time, wanted the speakers to be small and unassuming.

I would recommend a receiver with an adjustable frequency crossover for the main speakers and the subwoofer as this system lacks that. My receiver is several years old and does not have that feature, but I was able to balance the sound by moving the subwoofer around. The sound is excellent with highly detailed highs, wide dispersion, clear midrange and very good bass. They are attractive and unobtrusive in my room. The subwoofer is truly outstanding and I did not have any trouble balancing the system's sound. I highly recommend them. A new receiver is in my plans anyway. The system set-up is straight forward and the speakers' adjustable stands/wall mounts are excellent.

Great sound with the 5.1 channel. Now I am adding another two Kef speakers to make it a 7.1 channel output. After months of research I purchased these speakers and use them with an Onkyo receiver and a Samsung DLP tv. I am totally impressed with the size and quality of output.

I use them with a Denon AVR888 A/V receiver. I have had these for a year now. Having said that the sound is incredible. In addition, these speakers are beautiful. I could not ask for more. I am not an audiophile, so I cannot give you an expert opinion on the Kef 3005 speaker system. The unpacking process alone was pure enjoyment (beautifully packed). The subwoofer is one of a kind.

I read the reviews, looked at Sat systems like the Bose and the Mirage Omnisats, but settled on the KEFs (30 years with my last pair.). with a pair of JBL bookshelf speakers, a Bose center speaker and a Polk Audio sub with a Sony 600w as my home theater setup, I decided to go the matched route. I have the DTS version of Goldeneye on right now, and it is really swooping around the room plus bouncing me on the couch with its bass effects.

Plenty of bass, clean mids, and nice bright (but not harsh) highs. I highly recommend this system. My room is about 13x28 and they just fill it with multi-directional sound.

And what clean sound it is (they don't call KEFs reference speakers for nothing). What a great decision. After using a pair of KEF 304s (30 years old).

I matched them up with a Yamaha RX-V663BL and did a rough setup (they go up on the walls later). What a great sound, and they are only roughly dialed-in.
