KENSINGTON 33348 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Adapter Reviews
I would highly recommend this blue tooth adapter. So I researched online and found this Kensington, which I installed on my computer last night. I bought this Kensington Blue Tooth USB Adapter to allow me to synchronize my Palm Centro Smart Phone with my HP 64 bit laptop computer. The Palm Centro Smart Phone is not compatible with 64 bit computers and the tech support at Palm said the company is working to develop a compatible software, but that a blue tooth synch would be the alternative. Installation was a snap on my HP Windows Vista computer and the phone was immediately recognized by the computer once Kensington was installed. The hot synch went flawlessly and I am now able to enjoy the benefits of this blue tooth technology with my Palm Smart Phone, which will be my preference for doing the hot synch, even after the compatible software is released.
I was getting pretty discouraged when I saw the "failed" error messages. So I rebooted and double clicked on the BT icon that now appeared in the task bar. I can't remember if I had tried it that way the times when I got the error messages. This time it started to execute. I am glad I got it to work.KENSINGTON 33348 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Adapter
Since this is the main app I am interested in I am OK with this adapter at this time. 5.1.0.1700 and Rev. You go to http://us.kensington.com/html/1492.html and download Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter 2.0 (Rev. Weird. Well after 4 hours I finally got this to work in VISTA Home Premium.
I was able to use dial-up with the cell phone and it worked just fine. 6 times and kept getting VISTA errors that the attempt failed.
Also, I kept getting VISTA windows popping up saying that it couldn't find the software, that there were compatibility errors, ick. I then tried to install the Toshiba stack on the Kensington website, and naturally that failed.
Now, I tried to execute the http://update.broadcom.com/downloads/btwinitialupdate.exe. Now, about half of the software installed and half of it failed.
So I am guessing that you need to have the adapter installed in order for the software to run. 6.0.1.5100).
I quit the Toshiba installation (while the adapter was still plugged in) and then retried btwinitialupdate.exe. I added my cell phone as a device and the rest of the BT software drivers installed successfully for that device.
No problems and works great. I run a printer, mouse, keyboard, and PDA sync through it.
Now my Mac and cell phone can talk to each other, just for a start. This adapter is easy and does just what it advertises.
Works excellent with my Bluetooth headset Plantronics Voyager 510. If you need a driver for Vista it is available on Kensington official web site. Easy installation.
