Kensington Slim Type Keyboard - PC ( 64365 ) Reviews
My keyboard still works and looks just as good since the day I bought it. So far I don't see any wear on the chrome looking trim around the keyboard, but I don't rest my hands on it. Even though some key placement is weird, I'm not having any problems with it. This is still a good keyboard for gaming if you're used to gaming on a laptop, and the odd place for the insert key actually is good for some games, and even going further on gaming, this keyboard registers many keys at once. If you're looking for a keyboard that's like a laptop, this keyboard would be great for you. This keyboard is perfect for me, there's not one thing wrong with it in my opinion. Fingerprints do show well on it though, but it comes off easily with any cloth. I didn't need a usb extension cord since the cord was plenty long enough.
I've used this for months. 1) The "caps lock" key does not have a right side depression like on every Microsoft, Logitech or full-size Apple keyboard I've ever owned. If you have petite paws, I'd say go for it. It's because it's so good in so many ways that I'm frustrated by a pair of fatal flaws. I have large male hands and I'm can rarely type more than a few lines without hitting the caps lock when going for the "A" key. Great feel and in many ways I love it and very much appreciate the compact size.I have 4 computers and I'm drowning in keyboards.
2) Same on the other side I find that I'm always snagging the "home" key when backspacing. I can excuse the home key problem because of the compact design, but not the cap locks problem. But I'm planning to replace mine. This is not bad engineering, just dumb, thoughtless design, probably to save a tenth of a cent. The keys are fairly short-travel, so it only takes a very light touch to activate a switch.
This keyboard generally has the typing feel of my new HP laptop computer which I consider to be the gold standard. The arrow keys and page up and down keys are located in a good and sensible location. Overall, this is a extremely good keyboard value that I highly recommend. For a compact keyboard, the layout is quite good. One button is an on-screen calculator which is very useful. And I just tested the sleep button during this message and my computer recovered quite nicely without crashing. There are play, pause and fast forward and rewind buttons.
If you just do intermittent typing, you won't be disappointed. If you do a lot of typing every day, your fingers may experience fatigue. Along the top of the keyboard, there are useful keys for volume up/down and mute. However, the keys are considerably more difficult to press than the HP computer. Both shift keys are full sized along with the enter key and backspace key.
I really like this keyboard. The keys are spaced perfect, and extremely responsive. I look forward to many years use from it, and I will purchase another one when I wear this one out. It has scissor action keys that have increased my speed. It takes up very little desk space.
The keyboard will look very bad. Don't buy it. Kengington will not cover this in their warranty. The sliver band outside the keyboard will wear out in less than 2 months for regular users.
