Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. Wireless)
At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book. We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle's page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle's 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly. Whispernet utilizes Amazon's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.

Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. Wireless) Reviews
My husband gave me my Kindle for Christmas. I finally had found a piece of Electronics that I got excited about. I am a reader & my closets are full. It is nice to have my favorite books at my disposal without carrying books around. It is like having a best friend with you all the time, and they do not talk back to you.Smile!! I have not had ANY problems with my kindle & I use it all the time. I have the Kindle 2, the updated version. The electronic books are cheaper, I do not have to go to the store, and it only takes a minute to receive them. I would recommend the kindle experience to anyone, especially people who have a passion for reading.
Once you put your hands on a Kindle you will need one. This is technology done right. Compared to a book there are no sacrifices. The kindle is just as easy to read, navigate, bookmark etc. No annoying backlight or touch screen to get in the way of holding. The Kindle has me reading more for two reasons. 1) Once I get comfortable, I adjust the kindle and no longer have to re adjust my position. I lose track of time an get lost in the story. 2) I read a lot of humor books and thouse are available on the kindle but hard to find in print. The biggest deal for me is the Amazon support. At 3:30am I found my kindle screen broke. By 11am that day I had a new kindle in hand and had not even lost the page I was on.
I love reading my books on this kindle. Doesn't give me a headache when I read because it doesn't have a backlight
I love my Kindle! This is exactly what I was looking for in an e-reader. It's not trying to be any kind of all in one device (although it does have some "experimental" additional features) - it is optimized for reading. If you are the type of person who is always in the middle of a book, or two, or three, and want to replace all the bulk with an electronic format, you'll be very happy. You should be aware that the screen of the Kindle is "e-ink" - not like a phone or a laptop screen. There are two big differences between the two types of screens: first, "e-ink" can be read in daylight without any significant screen glare, but you will need to provide a light in order to read in dim conditions. Second, "e-ink" does not require nearly the battery power that a traditional screen does - so your battery lasts much, much longer. I charge my Kindle about once a week. I am very impressed with the convenience features like changing the screen rotation and text size. I love the ability to add notes and highlight content, clip articles from magazines, and search everything on the Kindle. I'm also using the Kindle to help with learning Spanish - I switched the default dictionary to a Spanish - English dictionary, so that when I'm reading in Spanish, I can get the English definition of a word simply by moving the cursor next to it. I love how easy it is to plug the Kindle into my PC and transfer pdf files - I just got a new phone, and one of the first things I did was transfer the phone's user manual to my Kindle. It works with the PC just like a flash drive, and pdf files don't need any conversion to be read on the Kindle. One thing I'd like to see improved is I'd like the ability to add tags to my library items and sort the home screen by those tags - the sorting options are limited. I provided that feedback to the address given in the Kindle's user materials, and got a personalized reply very quickly - so even the service has been great. If I weren't afraid to read this in the bathtub, it would be perfect!
i actually waited a couple of months b4 I decided to write this review. I am quit satisfied with my purchase, i didn't think i would like it, but it's wonderful.it's easy to use and order books for your kindle.
