Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530 Dl Color Laser Reviews

After reading raving professional reviews, I purchased a Magicolor 2530DL for home use. They didn't send me all of the information to send the first one back. I called tech support so many times, that they finally sent me a replacement Magicolor 2530DL printer. So, now I have two. Professional tech reviewers need to pay attention to how long the items work well.

The printer only works with 20 lb. Neither of the printers work. paper; it leaves white vertical streaks on everything but the test page; and now says "media jam fuser" and "prints" blank paper. I'm looking for a good place to get them repaired.

You'll think construction has started up next door. The machine seems very sensitive to humidity overcast and rainy days mean lots of printing problems. When it's in "rest" mode. We haven't had much luck with ours.

Turn it on and we're as likely to get an "Error" light as a "Ready" light. Well, about every ten minutes or so it grinds into action for 30 seconds, maybe. The main trouble is, the machine behaves properly only about half the time we try to use it. I loved the idea of an affordable color printer, and it was nice to see so many having good experiences with this one. And, as many others have pointed out, this is one loud machine.

Color pages are lively print photos on first-class paper and it's almost like looking at pages from magazines. Owning this thing has been an education in printer technology and it's an education I had no desire to be subjected to. When it grinds into action it'll make you jump out of your chair. I really don't want to have anything to do with a printer more than switching it on and off, and once in a while giving it some new ink or toner. Then it goes back into quiet-sleep mode. But our experience hasn't been happy, and I wouldn't buy it again. We're forever having to open the thing up and use a pencil eraser to get rid of toner dust, or jiggle the toner cartridges, or pull out jammed paper.

We've spent hours on the phone with Konica-Minolta help they've been very nice and helpful, but I'd rather not have to be bothering them in the first place, you know what I mean. 'Way too much involvement with the guts of the machine. When it works it works very nicely. Black text pages are terrific, and come roaring out of the machine at a good clip.

This printer has been a solid performer for nearly two years. Works great on both Macs and PCs. Your printer will still work, but paper will fall to the floor. This review is based upon the previous generation printer (2430 DL). The only problem is the output tray. It isn't the fastest color laser printer but for the price you can't beat it. The flimsy piece of plastic breaks far too easily.

Installing this printer on my home network of Macs and PCs (both wired and wireless) was actually a pleasure. The only cons are it comes with smaller starter cartridges (but that's one reason the price is so low), and replacements are expensive, and it prints very dark on the Mac so I always use the quartz filter to lighten the output for photos.

It is also has a nice small footprint (for a color laser). We've only owned this printer a month but so far it is the perfect replacement printer for an inkjet.

It is fast for just black and white.

It is a four-pass printer so it is slower than one-pass versions but it still beats any ink jet I've ever owned. We were tired of ink jet printers always running out of ink, drying out, printing streaky and generally being useless whenever we needed them.

Kudos to the software developers at Konica Minolta for making drivers and installers that work perfectly and ship with the product.

If you are looking for a good quality networked color laser printer for not alot of money, I highly recommend this device. This printer has turned out to be a great option for our company. If you are planning on using it heavily to print multiple copies of color documents, I would recommend stepping up to a model that boasts better speed. Networking is simple and it works flawlessly for our employees. The only negative is that it is very slow but we were aware of that issue prior to purchase.
