Excellent product, great value. I am very satisfied and would highly recommend this drive to anyone.
I love my lacie. Ive had 3 different types of external hard drives and this sure does it, Ill have to try out the western digital to really get my spectrum right but for now this product is awesome.
The second drawback is that it really doesn't seem very fast. If you use your external HD a lot I would suggest going with a model that has an on/off switch, and if you use a Mac get the firewire for added speed. The first big drawback is that there is no on/off switch.
But I may just be imagining that. So when you are done with the drive and eject it from your computer, the only way to turn it off is to unplug it, which is really annoying considering all the cords everyone has under their desks and behind their computers. While the price is right for this size HD it does have a couple drawbacks.
I have 2 other drives, one is USB 2 and the other is Firewire. On the positive side it is a lot of storage space for a low price and Lacie has been pretty reliable for me at least. The Firewire blows both of them away, but even the other USB 2 I have seems faster than this one.
i have it plugged into my airport extreme and use it for backups. works fine.
It needs a built in cooling system to cool it off so it can be in use for hours without any damage. This product is great in storage capacity, but it has a flaw, it warms up very easy afer a playing a movie and probably it either could spoil its content or ruin the whole devise since heat is harmful to every electronic devise.
