It's not super accurate either and looks fancy from the outside. Don't think its of a great quality as anticipated. You get what you pay for.
Maybe they got a different product. I'm not sure what the story is with the 5-star reviews listed here. To its credit, this compass was apparently correct on the two occasions when it agreed with itself. In a survival situation, this compass would be better than not having one, but that's all I can say for it. My old Silva clear plastic compass, on the other hand, pointed the same exact direction each time. I tested this out five times in the same spot while out hiking (got it out of my pocket, opened it up and leveled it to find magnetic north, then closed it and put it back in my pocket) and it pointed four slightly different directions.
I don't think the reading on this is accurate at all because it doesn't give the correct orientation of my house. Besides it looks really cheap. I would not trust this one to find directions if you need to do so on a hike, camp etc. I verified this another compass as well. Of course for the price I cannot expect anything sophisticated, but it should at least point correctly to North.
it is nifty and has fun gadgets, but is what i paid for. inexpensive but does the job. shipped and received without any problems.
