Cons: The flexible arm makes it harder to sit the camera and make it stay This i one of the best webcams I have ever owned, great sound quality. Pros: great sound quality, awesome design.
I bought this primarily for the price, quality of video and microphone, I used this for skype and yahoo messenger. If you will just use it for home use I highly recommend this webcam. I have no regrets.
One suggestion I would make is not to pay extra for a specific color on the unit (comes with either red, green, or blue). This is a nice little camera and downloaded the software without incident on my Window's Vista. The price is reasonable. I was first amazed by it's small size, but it is a workhorse. It works very well in low light conditions. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up voices quite well. You really can't see it very well anyway. It works great with Skype.
The quality of the Microsoft Lifecam VX-5000 is surprisingly good for the price. Moreover the camera works well in a low-light environment and the built-in microphone is good. They were amazed by the clarity of the video (in 640x480). But for most Messenger-like applications, it's more than appropriate and at a very decent price. Of course, if you plan to do professional work with your webcam, you might probably want to invest in a 2 Megapixels camera (instead of this 1.3 Mpixels). I bought it a couple of days ago to give some video calls to my parents in Europe (nothing fancy because they have a slow DSL connection).
I initially had a number of issues with the connection, but it seems to run well now. Overall, good for the occasional webcamer. Quality is not the best, but for the price it is good.
