Linksys WRT600N Linksys Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link
The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really four devices in one. There's the dual-band Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together at up to gigabit speeds. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. There is also a Storage Link that lets you easily add gigabytes of storage space onto your network using readily available USB 2.0 hard drives or plug in a USB flash disk for a convenient way to access your portable data files. The built-in Media Server streams music, video, and photos from the attached storage device to any UPnP compatible media adapter. The Access Point built into the Router uses a dual-band version of the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase its range and reduce Dead Spots in the wireless coverage area. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. Security features - WEP - WPA - WPA2 Security key bits - Up to 256-bit encryption System Requirements - Internet Explorer 6.0 or Firefox 1.0, CD-ROM drive, Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP and Vista, and Network Adapter Dimensions - 7.48 x 5.71 x 7.01 (190x145x178mm) Weight - 1.51 pounds (683 grams)

Linksys WRT600N Linksys Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link Reviews
I had a smooth and easy install. But its well worth the money, especially if you work from home or have multiple people using your internet connection. I am able to get 250 MBps speeds regularly and my Internet connection has SCREAMING Performance with this router even when multiple users are connected to it. My wife works on the G band while I work on the N band that has terrific performance. I use optimum online with power boost as well and you won't believe it but I have not touched the router since I first installed and configured it. Usually, I would restart the router or do something with it once a month, but not this one. A good router like this is best enjoyed with a great Internet service provider who also has features for additional download speeds. Well, I don't know what people here are talking about less documentation, poor tech support etc.I experienced none of those.
Great buy, but the cost scares me a bit considering that I bought it when there were no takers. I also bought the usb adaptor for using the N band and that works great with my laptops that do not have the n standard on them. Three of us at home tried downloading files across the 2 bands simultaneously and did not detect any performance deterioration. In comparison, my earlier Linksys router that was 4 years old used to have connections cut several times every day and performance would vary too. I never had to call tech support at any time. Guess, if you read and follow instructions clearly, things work fine. Well, I was one of the early buyers of this router - I bought this one when there were no reviews of the product on Amazon.
Or maybe a I was a bit more lucky than many others. The wireless connection is as steady as ever, there is a minor few seconds outage on the rare occasion but that again is surely due to the internet service provider's outage and the internet comes back on in a few seconds without having to do anything on the router. No wonder, the price is somewhat higher than when I bought it too - seems like more people are buying it. I did see the two bands clearly. I came back today to notice 94 reviews and the ratings are in line with my experience over the last 6 months. Lot of the problems that people might be facing in terms of performance or reliability must be due to their internet provider's reliability.
All the setup was pretty easy and I'm able to stream music from my pc upstairs to my Xbox in the basement.
It should allow you to look at or keep a log of exactly what tried to connect.
Not sure if I like the EasyLink software.
Easy to setup and seems to have better range than my old WRTG45.
It has some upsides like showing what computers you have connected and allowing you to name them.
I would recommend it.
I bought this so I could stream music and also connect my Xbox wirelessly.
Plus I've played a little bit of Gears of War.
But it's always popping up that a new computer tried to connect or a current computer connected and I don't see anything different.
It did take some time and Linksys/Cisco provides very good help and documentation. I had to replace my old router since Insightbb changed to Comcast, changing equipment. After setting this up with Comcast cable it worked just fine with 11 computers. At this point I have never gotten the two Vista laptops to work with wireless, they are working with direct cable input. Since there only 4 ports in the WRT600n I am also using 3 Linksys 10/100 switches. Three of these 11 computers are laptops; a Windows XP laptop works with wireless.
In the 5 ghz radio I get lower signal than in the 2.5 ghz radio. I like the fact that it has gigabit ethernet ports and a usb port for hard drives, but can't use it because the firmware is buggy. All in all, this router has been great.
I have had page loading faster with this router than others. I think it needs improvement, but a simple final n firmware should fix it. It hasn't been a disappointment so far.
The two radios is a plus for those of us than want to take advantage of it. I've had this router for sometime. Is this something linksys is holding out on.
I don't know if it's me, but this router didn't come with the vertical stand. Video streaming isn't interrupted as it was with my old but reliable wrt54gs.
i have since ordered a dual-band from netgear for 1/3rd the price and i will never buy a linksys product again. beware if you entertain thoughts of upgrading it to dd-wrt firmware that this model has an un-upgradable firmware version installed on it (search on 600n unable to upgrade on the dd-wrt website) so you won't be able to. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT (or anything by linksys) unless you want to get ripped off. still unacceptable garbage, especially for $300. crashes on a daily basis, sometimes half a dozen times an hour. tried turning off all the automatic channel selection and other complexities, which reduced the crash rate to a couple a day.
