Logitech Cordless Desktop S 530 Laser for Mac ( 967664-0403 ) Reviews

Which was good enough for me in Windows. The keyboard was not detected, but the keys did their general functions: Home page, Email, Volume, etc. This keyboard feels really nice to type with and removes the need for the "fn" key which the wireless Apple keyboard has. This was definitely worth it. Also, the USB dongle that it came with did not match what was in the picture, instead it's a big black chunky one. The keys feel like any other keyboard, and the keypad is great too.

The software that you can get from Logitech is great in its ability to allow you to customize many aspects of the set, including the keys on the mouse. It would be preferable if those pictures weren't there. The keyboard does not have a Caps Lock light, which doesn't bother me as much since I'm really good typer, but my girlfriend didn't realize she kept typing in the wrong password. Regardless, this is still a really sexy, functional, and amazing keyboard mouse combo.

The volume changing on a mouse is almost useless IMO, but they still have the pictures on the mouse. I decided to get a keyboard and mouse set so I wouldn't have to sit so up close anymore to my laptop. Since I found the audio changing things useless, I just switched them off for the Next/Previous Tab and Close Window hotkeys. It detected it as an MX500 and allowed me to do the customizations desired.

When I went to Windows under Bootcamp, the mouse worked perfectly after installing the Windows version of the Logitech software. My only complaints about this keyboard and mouse is this:.

However, My one setback on this item is that the "hotkey" functionality does not go across user accounts. It works well and feels good to type. You must set it up on each account for it to work. I really like this keyboard and mouse combo for use with my 17 inch iMac. Overall I like the keyboard and mouse though.

Nice slim profile, matches the look of my Mini and is very comfortable to use. Nice shortcut keys, easy to set up and no problems. Great product.

This is an excellent improvement on the wired keyboard and mouse which come with iMac. It's the only feature I missed, and I don't miss it enough to complain. It was easy to reassign the buttons on the mouse. I understand why it is omitted to save battery life. There is a very soft audible and tactile click when you use either.

Click on the picture of the mouse or keyboard. If there were one feature I would ask Logitech to add, it would be some indicator that the CAPS LOCK were engaged. Unlike some other reviewers I have no complaints. You can also adjust the scrolling speed and distance and acceleration using the standard KEYBOARD AND MOUSE control panel on the HARDWARE row of SYSTEM PREFERENCES. In 4 months of use, I've had to replace the two generic AA alkaline mouse batteries once but the keyboard is still running on the first pair. I have no experience with the Apple wireless set. I call this "The Goldilocks Effect." It feels "just right.". When you click either, you'll see a number of selections.

I reset the two thumb buttons on the side to Apple-key [ and Apple-key ] which are Back and Forward in Safari and other browsers. To reset mouse buttons or keys on the keyboard, click on the Desktop, and in the Finder, pull down the menu, select SYSTEM PREFERENCES and on the bottom row labeled OTHER, select LOGITECH CONTROL CENTER. The CONFIGURE button is now active, and click it. As this is a wireless keyboard and mouse, I was very concerned about the amount of battery drain. I bought this keyboard (and mouse) from one of the Amazon Merchants. (I think it might be nice for Logitech to include these controls and F-Key assignments on a future version of their software). Make sure you always have a couple of spares of each, as there is no alternative way to use the keyboard and mouse with dead batteries. It was about $12 less than the new price quoted above (October 2008) including shipping.

You can even select an application to launch. Thanks for reading my very wordy review. I downloaded the latest software and the keyboard and mouse control panel (located as one of the System Preferences), and it worked just fine with my OS 10.4. The feel of the keyboard and mouse is just right to my fingers. Select the button or key you wish to reassign, and at the far right of that row, you'll see an up-arrow and a down-arrow. The keyboard uses two AAA and mouse uses 2 AA batteries. (That is, you can't convert them to a wired set).

My wife stuck a brown fabric calendar holder/desk pad under it and it works fine, but it sort of blows the clean look we were going for. We've used this keyboard/mouse combo almost daily for exactly two years now, and it's been great. I wanted a trackball mouse but the Logitech Optical Marble Mouse (USB/PS2) isn't available in a wireless version, so we tried the Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel. Neither one of us liked it, so we're back to the included optical mouse. I just changed the mouse battery last month for the first time; I may have changed the keyboard battery a few months before that, but I can't recall.

My only gripe is that the optical mouse won't work on our glass-on-black desktop without a pad (or a sheet of white paper). In the interest of reducing clutter, we went wireless with our desktop Apple G4. The volume controls are handy, but most of the other buttons surrounding the keyboard get little to no use at all. I'd love to have a wireless Marble Mouse for our new setup, but my wife doesn't mind using the mouse (and it's not my computer anyway).

(Getting old).
