Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control Reviews
It did well in creating all activities DVD, VCR, Radio, PVR, DISH but failed to goto right panasonic TV input. I tried to make it work. I recommend not buy it rather use time to program existing remote for multiple devices. I bought and returned this remote. Spent total of 12hrs. Email support from logitect is useless.
I went ahead and replace it with the 880. She just hits the activity and it's ready to go. It was able to reprogram from my old settings.
Plugged the 880 into my computer it recognized it. I have a Motorola STB, a PS3, an Onkyo Receiver, 30" LCD TV. Ran the software, hit the button that says change remote. Before we got our first harmony, I would come home from a business trip and she would be mad because she couldn't get any of it to work. Even with the notes that I would leave. All of these are controlled by this one remote. I like the way it just works with hardly any user intervention.
I like the color screen.
I like the way it comes on when you pick it up or tilt it. This replaced my old Harmony remote.
My dog chewed on it and ate one of the buttons. My wife loves the remote because she doesn't have to memorize the settings when going from watching TV to listening to a CD, or watching a movie.
I would recommend this remote if you have more than 2 remotes at your house. Now, I come home to a happy wife.
The DVR controls (which are used 90% of the time) are to close together and it's almost impossible to discern the button by feel. I bought this device to control my AV Receiver, DVR, TV, Media Center PC and Playstation 3. After a week I gave up and got the Harmony One which I love. The device is simple to setup using your PC. The problem I found was the buttons are too small and not positioned for easy access.
i'm so disappointed in this remote. they are also easily bumped against and pressed which is VERY aggravating. i'm thinking about getting a different harmony remote. i also think that it's poorly designed. i'm always accidentally changing the station while watching something and then losing my buffer on the DVR. after about 8 months though some of the buttons stopped working.
ugh. it was great in the beginning. will they all be like this. works with all of our appliances including our window A/C unit. the number buttons near the bottom of the remote are hard to get to with your thumb while holding the remote. the volume + hardly ever works as do the top screen buttons.
My first unit had to be returned because the tilt sensor quit. I really like the product. The user interfaces are easy and very powerful. It's a shame the hardware is nowhere near as well done. Sometimes it just doesn't want to make contact and charge.
Both units I have owned are VERY finiky in the charger. Cons: Unfortunately the hardware is not as good as the software and user interface design. After your 1 year is up the maker will only fix it for $$$. Pros: This remote is easy to program, easy to use, and the web setup is amazing.
This remote is really great, when it works. Worst of all, after about a year, the buttons don't work nearly as well as when it was new. I searched online and this is a common problem.
