Love Song Reviews
It is a pretty good song that shows she has a decent ability who has the distinction of making good songs sound fresh, rather than flimsy and manufactured. I really hope she keeps making good ones for years to come, that really stick to the mind and soul. The song actually is very catchy after awhile, and stays with you. Song: B- To really be honest with you, this past year has been very difficult to actually find what has been good in pop music. Newcomer, Sara Bareilles though has managed to get herself out there and try to make a name for her little voice with her debut single, Love Song. While so many artists like Jordin Sparks and Beyonce' have taken so much radio airplay, it has been harder to find fresh faces to make good music come alive.
Lately it's getting plenty of air-play. I really like this song because of the fun, skippy piano melody and the story behind why she wrote it.
B I love female singer/songwriters and she is #1 at the top of my list. I haven't heard the rest of the album but I'll keep in touch and let you know. I am an African American female and I love Sara Bareilles' 'Love Song' from the first moment I heard it. She is a fresh new voice and I hope she continues to produce more music for an industry so in need of new talent.
Music just seems to be coming up with a ton of surprises lately, and this song is no exception. Bareilles does a great job at creating a radio-friendly upbeat pop song. First off, Sara Bareilles is a great new musical talent, in the vein of the gaggle of female pop artist dominating the airwaves today. She sings great, and her piano work is incredible. The song could be compared to REM's classic, "The One I Love," in that, the title sounds, well, like a lovesong, but actually it's like a break-up song. Overall, a great little pop tune from a big talent. Just the other day, I heard the song twice within a span of 15 minutes, on completely different radio stations. And it all seems to work.
The video version is much livelier. The song itself is pretty impressive though; it lets us know who Sara actually is; what she wants; needs and most importantly, how she thinks.
The version I hear when I listen to it (downloaded version) has just the piano and vocals. Nice, but no production whatsoever.
It's great, but not this. Lyrics are subtly interesting and the piano work is somewhat infectious, albeit simple.
I've heard the samples here, and although they weren't enough to make me want to purchase the album, it doesn't take away from this awesome single and I will still give them another go someday. It's great though, gives it more personality.
5 stars. Much more things going on, production-wise than the version that I have downloaded to my computer.
