Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
A Mercenary's Rule: Everyone Pays Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is an explosive open-world action game set in a massive, highly reactive, war-torn world. When a power-hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply he sparks an invasion that turns the country into a war zone. But for you, international crisis is all upside: You are a mercenary, and you profit from chaos. You are not a soldier. You don't have to play by anyone's rules. You have your own code: you will fulfill the terms of the contract, no matter what. If you see it, you can buy it, steal it, or blow the living crap out of it. Play your own way, or play with the help of a friend in the new co-op multiplayer mode. And remember rule #1 for mercenaries: EVERYBODY PAYS. |

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames Reviews
Not a great game really - I mean, the actual game play is fun but the obscure symbols and "clues" are very confusing and if you play the game a while and stop for a couple of days, good luck remembering what the little clues mean. There is no mention of these things in the printed material with the game so I had to go to game forums to find out what they meant and what you were supposed to do when you saw one.
It is fun to nuke stuff, but that doesn't make a great game. This game is buggy out the wazzoo and the interface is lacking both in-game and out. It feels like a beta, but it is for sure far from a quality where todays games should be. That said, this game is repetitive and a little boring. I wish that companies would at least try to develop their games better. This game is a bad port from the PS3 and 360 versions. NEVER pay more than $28 for this game. I like the ability to hijack vehicles.
It's only really worth $20 max, and I mean $20 should have been the release price. Shame on the developer. Mercs will always be GTA like. This game is a GTA clone in the end. I think this franchise is headed in the right direction in these ways.
Failing will not kill you usually. The programming staff are more concerned with how it looks than how it plays (probably went to school with "Programmer Barbi"). The best I have seen in a game. I expected a MMO, its a 2MO. - Superb graphics, so much that you wont be able to handle the high settings with 3gigs.
On average this is not a problem. Knowing what I know now, I would still buy it but I am a patient person and will wait for the patches. - Buttons don't always work. The patch will correct some issues with shading and brightness. The storyline and beauty of the maps is great, but it would be nice to be able to hit what we aim at and jump when we want rather than on the roll of some imaginary dice that we will never see and were never told about. - The patch released doesn't fix anything. I guess that qualifies, but I personally have never considered 2 people to be "Massive".
- Great storyline. Very fun game, with a nice little plot. - Overall conflicted. Ok, it isn't literally that way, but when the game only registers a key press for an action at random intervals it may as well be. When you have to hijack something (a tank or helicopter) be ready to do it at least 20 times, as you will only do it when the game decides to register the last key press.
If you don't want to wait on them to get off their lazy butts and fix it, don't buy it. I imagine it will be a while before the Barbi Squad gets to it. The game does not run slow on my computer, but when you click a button the game does not always register it. Getting past the mechanics issues, the story really holds well. They went all out with this area. So, the bad controls will remain a problem, but at least it's pretty.
Otherwise it does nothing.
Dont buy this game. Its up to you, but I dont think 50 bucks is worth a shiny coaster and a nice little box. Not worth it. I actually have 2gb, and I have windows xp. The game stutters, crashes, and bsod's more than frequently, assuming you can get the game to start. It can be blocked with Kaspersky, or other advanced security clients, but the only true way to remove it is to wipe your hard drive.
My copy of the game I got from gamestop couldnt even start, due to a ram error that states I have under 610mb of RAM. Not to mention this game also ILLEGALLY installs SecuRom on your pc, without your consent, or even knowledge. SecuRom will slow down your pc, and run all processes through itself. This game is incredibly buggy and broken. 50 bucks for a broken, malware infected coaster.
Its respectable graphics and diverse selection of weapons/vehicles makes the game interesting to play, but the numerous flaws and glitches keep this third-person shooter from being truly interesting. The base capturing missions run out quickly, leaving players to do the less enjoyable target destruction missions. There are a lot of different types of vehicles to use, ranging from numerous tanks to multiple helicopters, and even a few different types of boats. Though the various advertisements promise an open world, the "open world missions" tend to be repetitive and generally fall into three categories: base capturing, target destruction/capture, and racing. - Poor control via PC. Your mercenary is almost completely invulnerable to one-shot kills (such hits generally knock your health down to 2 instead of killing you). As well, most of the storyline missions have to be completed in a specific way, and that can be EXTREMELY frustrating to players that want a more free-form game. If you want to do the "cool" missions, you HAVE TO FOLLOW THE STORYLINE.
Mercenaries 2 is definitely worth looking into if you want some quick escapist fun, but be prepared to get frustrated with missions on a regular basis (especially if you can't figure out the "gimmick" that will help you win it). You heal quickly, so running in a zig-zag pattern until you can hide behind a boulder for a few seconds is usually enough to see you through any tight situation. Note: Online multiplayer is limited to two total players in any given scenario, and both players are on the same side. - Large selection of vehicles. This level of healing generally lends itself to a more-exciting action game, but will disappoint players interested in a realistic mercenary game. The controls seem to have been intentionally muddled for PC users, as the mouse control is not nearly as smooth as it is in other games. - Extremely linear play.
A few of the features and flaws of the game are:. Mercenaries 2 is the kind of mindless action game that is perfect for killing time - and that's about it. - Near invulnerability. Most of these can be stolen on the fly, so if you see one, you can usually take it away and use it with ease. This can be EXTREMELY frustrating until players get used to it. I give this game three stars, as it is a decent PC-port of a console game that had its enjoyable moments of play.
