Better then the overpriced wires at Best Buy, et al. Wires are great and get great sound out of my surrond sound Okyono speakers.
There's not much to say about speaker wire except it works as expected and was much cheaper here than at a local electronics store. A nice heavy gauge wire that's more than sufficient for most home users. I didn't have any problem distinguishing the (+) from (-).
I did a side to side comparison between the two and I was impressed. Neither is advertised as Oxygen Free nor are they priced as such. The sound quality improvement with the METRA wire was significant. Very finely stranded true 14 gauge speaker wire. I'm removing and tossing the RShack wiring as soon as I get another roll of this in. The RS wire had all of 19 strands whereas this METRA wire has nearly 200 strands. METRA's sound was fuller, louder with the same volume setting and more distinct. I COULD tell the difference btwn this and a 50 foot $10 roll of standard 16 gauge I got yesterday from RadioShack.
When it was short, I then measured the wire against a tape measure. One side is silver and the other side is copper. The only reason I found out was because I knew how long of a wire I needed. 6 ft short is a large percentage on 50 ft. Nothing on the package says Metra though. This came as described at a decent price. I will no longer order from Metra. UPDATE: I got another one of these and it was short 6 ft.
All the Metra wires say Raptor "made in China". 14 gauge is a great all-purpose wire. I had to make an extra trip to Walmart because of Metra. Metra's best deal is the 100' 10 gauge for $38 delivered. The other complaints about wire length against metra may be true. It says Raptor. When doing in-wall wiring, that's not good.
