Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe Reviews
I've played through several campaigns, and lost each one without really understanding what I did wrong. The missions are boring. I know war can be an endless repetion, but come on. This is nothing like them. There is no infomration on what strategies will help you achieve success. But if you take one hit, your aircraft is uncontrollable. I bought this game based on my experience with MS CFS and CFS2.
It would have to improve significantly just to stink. You never get promotions, and it is almost impossible to score a medal. Your hud will continue to identify targets as "hot" even if you've destroyed them. Forget getting two. Ground targets are not to scale.
If you fly successive sorties of the same mission type, you will quickly become frustrated and bored. The battle lines seem to move regardless of the outcomes of your missions. There are basically three missions you can fly: go bomb ground targets; go bomb ships; or intercept incoming aircraft. They can all be smoking piles of rubble and your hud will defiantly indicate that there is still one down there.
Trust me: it really is that bad. Not at all. In summary, this game is not worth owning. You can empty your guns into enemy planes before they die.
I know other reviews have apologized for making the game sound bad. Mission briefs all read the same. Neither are the ships. (Truck convoys are the worst.
Its missing something, I dont know what, but there is defenitley something missing, well, I dont know. Summary: A great load of fun, but like I said, its missing something But there is something missing, its like, not having a wife or girlfriend. If you consider this your life (I dont, ok, all things straightened out) its like you have ur job, a house, a steady paycheck, a good amount of money in the bank, a nice car.
Mike L They do not even have a training section for landings. Or it is too hard to find for if it is there I cannot find it. This new simulator is a real disappointment. How Microsoft ever developed the neat original Combat Flight Simular and then went backwards is beyond me. UGH. which everyone liked to use in the old package.
Just like being there. But it will not play correctly on Windows Vista, even set to XP compatability. Very real, very good directions and support. Plan on spending a lot of time reading and studying directions and tactics.
I should have known better than buy this Microsoft turkey. This is not a very good sim. I've been playing all the versions of IL2 since 2003 and it's still the best. IL2 + TrackIR + Saitek X52 joystick and throttle + Saitek rudder pedals = many hours entertainment. If you want an outstanding combat flight simulator purchase IL2 Sturmovik 1946.
