Microsoft LifeChat ZX-6000 Wireless Headset Reviews
Pure waste of money and time. What can I say, poor mic volume, noise in sound, does not fit my ear well.
I HOPE OFFICE DEPOT TAKES BACK THIS $70 AND ALOT OF WASTED TIME HEADSET. MAYBE PLUG & EASY CD INSTALL- NOPE NO HELP FROM CD INSTALL. INSTRUCTION BOOK- AGAIN NO HELP EXCEPT FOR THE TREES SAVED FROM LACK OF MATERIAL. DO NOT BUY- DO NOT BUY- DO NOT BUY i GIVE UP TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK ON 2 SEPERATE COMPUTERS AND O/S VISTA & XP. WOULD EXPECT IT TO PLUG AND PLAY- NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WORKING THAT WAY. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATINGLY DISAPPOINTED- ESPECIALLY W/ THE MICROSOFT NAME ATTACHED.
No joy the Mac doesn't recognize the Lifechat. The device ships with a Windows-only installation disk, so no help there. I needed a USB headset for Skype on my Mac, and figured that a wireless one would be nice. MacOS X is pretty good at recognizing new USB devices, even those not specifically advertised as working on a Mac. Nothing for you here. Mac users, move along. I grabbed this in a retail store on a whim.
I downloaded the installation instead of using the CD. I could use the headset right away without making any changes in Skype or in the headset's software. I could turn the volume up to hear them but the quality wasn't good. The call button is useless unless you use Live Messenger.
Using it - The design is okay. I tested this headset for use with Skype. Result - Avoid buying this product.
I didn't install Live Messenger even though Microsoft strongly suggests I do. The setup was easy. Sound Quality - Here's where this product becomes junk. The quality of audio is so poor that this product should not be considered for use as a phone headset. I have not come across one that works anywhere near as well as a cheap wired headset performs.
It fits well as long as you don't have earrings on. I thought the power on button was a pain - really small for someone with big fingers. My friends had a hard time hearing me and my voice come through not sounding like me. If you wear earrings that are any bigger than a stud, this headset won't fit around your ear. I really like the concept of a wireless headset.
I use this head set at work so i don't distrube my cube mates. The range is somewhat short but thats to be expected working around many other such devices.
