Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse - Steel Blue Reviews

I just plugged the receiver into a USB port, put in a battery, and off I went. I do have one complaint, the receiver is quite large, which it just shouldn't be. Response time is incredible and the scroll wheel works a lot better than its smaller brother. I didn't have to install any software or drivers to get mine functioning properly. If the mouse wasn't so cumbersome and the receiver was better designed this would be a five star mouse. It is ergonomically designed so it will fit snuggly in either your left or right hand. The big brother does has an incredibly long battery life - I've only had to replace the battery once and I've had this mouse for almost a year.

Some mention needing to install software for the mouse to work properly. This is the mouse I use for my PC. If you are looking for a well-designed, ergonomically built, hassle-free mouse, then this is a good mouse to choose. I recently purchase Microsoft's 3000 mini mouse for my laptop and the mini mouse is so much smoother than its big brother.

PS: do not buy it if you're planning to use it for a laptop, this thing is huge (it fits my average size male hands perfectly), not portable at all, and the signal receiver is also huge, it looks like another mouse, I didn't know where to put it since its so huge and ugly looking. Not for laptops since it has a cord going from it to the back of the PC I bought this mouse about one year ago, and I used to love it, even if it needs new batteries every 2-3 months, but now it's starting to die, the left click button and the signal are failing, sometimes I can't click anything at all, I've replaced the batteries 3 times and it's still malfunctioning, I had high hopes for this mouse :(, so buy it if you don't expect to keep it for longer than 1 year.

The scroll wheel is silent, which is a nice touch, smooth too.

*UPDATE- now that the mouse has some use to it, it's gotten a bit more dirty and smudged so its not as slippery.

The receiver is almost as big as the mouse.

4 STARS.

This mouse is too slippery.

Whats with the big receiver.

I grab the mouse with fingertips not my whole palm and it is very slippery to grasp.

Its for the office, so.

I have 2 other mice at home with a receiver no bigger than a thumb drive.

I'm used to ones that have a detent. Just a personal preference. My only complaint is the sorta weird feeling of the scroll wheel.
