I bought this product because I needed to convert a coaxial signal from the dvd player to the input (optical) of the home entertainment system. I do recommend this device if you need it for conversion of a signal as it does a great job. I haven't tried attaching another device, or changing configuration as you can via the switch on the side of the device. It does the job transparently as it should and gives you the option of also attaching another device (optical in).
I wanted to send the digital signal to my receiver for DTS sound and I also wanted to send the signal to my DAC for better two channel sound quality. This product allows me to feed in one signal and output the signal to two separate places. Works as advertised. I have a USB soundcard for my computer.
