The HC1500 DLP projector projects video in a native 720p format so you get a highly detailed HD picture that looks crisp even at large sizes. It features Texas Instruments BrilliantColor, which utilizes a seven-segment color wheel and an algorithm that enables brighter mid-tones and more realistic color. The HC1500 also offers 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. Depending on the size of your room, you can project the image from 40 inches to 275 inches diagonal. The HC1500 has a lamp life of 3000 hours in low mode and 2000 hours in bright mode.Pure Connection From Source to Screen
The HC1500 has HDMI 1.2 and component cable connections to ensure a pure input signal from beginning to end. With 10-bit processing, the information is unsullied and the result is a pure image on the screen. Be advised that this projector (as with most projectors) does not include a tuner; to watch television, you need to provide a television signal, either through an external tuner or a cable box. This PJ is no exception although it is brighter than most and will give decent picture with some ambient light. The only differences between all of these 3 are the brightness and the fact that HC1600 uses the slowest color wheel which is why I would put it on the bottom of the list, with HC1500 being the best. There's tons of options to adjust the picture to whatever you like. Gamma, custom RGB, etc. Dark images have lots of detail - buildings, sidewalks, alleys, etc. Just in case you are wondering, HC1500 is the younger brother of HD1000 (2006) and the predecessor of HC1600 (2008). I have limited my watching to evening and night-time so no problems here. Before buying any projector you have to understand this - you need a dark environment to really enjoy the picture.
If you're just starting your adventure with Home Theater like I am, this is the projector to get. I will mention though that I only have an 85" screen and am shooting on a white wall. I watched the The Matrix Trilogy HD DVD on this PJ and it was breathtaking. While the flexibility is limited, the picture is great. Playing GTA4 is wicked on this.
This little PJ provides great shadow detail with its accurate Grey scale tracking. I have only adjusted my settings with Avia but the picture is great. The rest of my HD DVD collection looks great as well. I also have ND2 filter to slightly lower the light output and the result is one tight image. I'm in the process of getting a mount and already have made a DIY screen that is waiting to be hung.
Refer to www.projectorcentral.com for the throw/placement calculator. Mainly because of its dynamic day/night changes which show off the color capabilities of this machine. Movies look great as well.
i have had it 1 1/2 months the only down side to this is my set up and with it being right behind my head if you sit right infront of the projector you can hear the fan but i dont so i dont care. i screen is HUGE and i love it.
i have a light controled room and with it dark and on low lamp it is still almost too bright on some movies and games. i did alot of research before investing this much money into a projector, and i have to say this is a GREAT investment. if you thinking about gettin this projector get it.
fan isnt that loud anyway. picture is flawless. i have my PS3 hooked up to it with hdmi cable and blue ray look AWESOME i mean its not 1080 but still way better than a plain tv could ever do.
ok this is my set up im useing a plain white wall about 12 feet away it is sitting on a shelf behind my couch.
Amazing projector for an amazing price. I have it on a standard white wall, at about 120 inches and it looks amazing. Amazing picture. I have watched DVDs, Verizon Fios HDTV, and Xbox 360 and all look fabulous. Wide screen image is awesome. I am about to buy the white wall paint made for projectors and can't wait to see how good that will look. Mitsubishi makes it very easy to replace bulb if there are any problems within the warranty period.
Good value. I"m not an advanced tech user and haven't used all the features of the projector, but for simple set it up and watch movies, I'm happy. Better viewing with a screen. So far, so good.
I havent had any problems with it what so ever. My screen size is 7 feet 6 inches wide by 4 feet 3 inches tall. A++++ You havent played GTA 4 (XBOX 360) till youve played it like this. This is a very nice projector.
