Monopoly Tycoon Reviews
I did however like this more than the regular MONOPOLY. It took me a while to finish this game. I bought this game from Walmart for 9.99. It was kinda easy though. This game is cheap on here.
The game play is well thought out. Lovely game the details are very good, I have not beaten it yet, but it rocks.
Like another reviewer said, the music is part of what makes it fun, so I have to say that on Windows Vista, this game would only get two stars. Just don't get it if you have Windows Vista.
I found the game easy to navigate with a simple layout (unlike some other "Tycoon" games I've tried), and it worked great on both Windows 2000 and XP. My husband purchased this game for me six years ago, and it was one of the first PC video games I had played that was more involved than the ones that come pre-installed on any version of Windows. Anyways, now that I have Windows Vista, the only way to get it to play is to set the properties to play with Windows XP SP2 compatibility and turn off the music on the game configuration.
Go figure. In fact, it's what helped me keep my sanity while I was on bed rest while pregnant, as time seems to fly when you're playing this game. It's been several years since then and I still enjoy playing it from time to time, but I REALLY wish there were more scenarios or an expansion pack to go with it.
Bottom line: If you want a simple (yet easy to navigate) and possibly addicting game this is a good one; and at five bucks, the price is great. It seems like they could have easily made many more, but didn't.
But if you have a home network it's not a bad game if you buy 2 copies and have some competition at home. It would be a much better game if 2 copies were purchased to play head-2-head. It's really not much like monopoly, either. The computer players are way too easy to learn and beat, and to play online multiplayer you have to sign up with a pricey monthly service (considering the game date they may not even offer it anymore). If you're looking for a monopoly game or a good stand alone game, keep looking. I can see why it flopped on the retail rack.
With a $4.99 bargain bin price, the amount of stuff to do and the fun time this game provides, it's worth the 5 star rating.
