Monster HDMI 1000HD Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable (1 meter) Reviews
There are $2 HDMI cables. Let me keep it short and simple: HDMI is an encrypted digital signal. The cable that carries it either works or does not work. Any cable that works is the same as any other cable that works.
What does all this mean. $100.00 is a lot of money, still these days. It's even so bad that when they hit you for the HDMI 1.4 or 1.5 you won't have the money for them cause these cost you too much and now you're broke. They are a waste of money and you'll have to do without 50 gallons of gas or no renting movies to watch. Nothing. I'm spending more for no more. They provide a digital picture but they don't show a sharper, more colorful lifelike image. These cables are VERY expensive.period.
So if I'm spending $85.00 or $90.00 more on them, what am I getting for the extra money. They look just like the $10.00 set. Not just comparing them to other cables that do the same thing for $85.00 less, but comparing them to anything. And they (the cables) don't work. That translates to "them doing nothing.
It has lived to it's true promise. Blue Ray is Alive. One can't enjoy movies on Blue Ray if you don't spend a little money on an Amazing Cable such as this.
I have a SONY Bravia 46Z, 120Mhz model, paired with the SONY S350 BD and a SONY 576 A/R system. I would run the same clip of the films - about 1-2 minutes and then also freeze the picture at the same frame for comparison. In this setup, no differences could be found - what-so-ever. I did not expect these results, I was hoping to find no difference, even though the test is not a scientific one, it is one that does count since I am the one who will be watching the output from my couch everyday. Daughter and myself: This is where it gets interesting. We could both tell which cable was being run, by the subtle extra brightness of specific scenes and slightly, almost imperceptible, but existing, extra shine of certain objects in the frame. Got tired after 30 minutes of this and even though she was predispositioned to "get the exspensive one just to be sure" at the end she was saying - "if I cannot tell the difference, then what the.".
The sharpness, audio quality, colors and other picture attributes seemed identical. I started with the predisposition "I want to prove that there is no difference, because I hate being ripped-off by Monster or anyone else for this matter". The two stars is because of the absurdly high price, even if htere is a difference - still borderline convinced. The strange thing is that both my daughter and I noticed the same thing over and over, and COULD tell the difference, albeit exptemely subtle. I also repeated the same experiment with the Curse Of The Golden Flowers BD, to make sure I test all the color schemas - amazing film, a must see. Only this slight extra brighness. Can somebody attempt to explain why my daugter and I have been able to spot a difference, even if subtle, between the two cables. I sat down my wife and daughter (a very scientific approach I guess) and started exchanging cables with the Dark Knight on the BD drive.
I got the Monster 1000 cable from the Point of sale, but after reading all the Amazon and other reviews, also bought 2 other 1.3a $10 HDMI cables. I am tempted to go with the $98 dollar AMAZON priced Monster cable for the Blu-Ray connection and the $10 1.3a standard cable for everything else. Well, I hooked up the Monster 1000HD2M cable on one HDMI input of the TV and the other ($10 1.3a) HDMI cable on another HDMI input. Results: Wife: Could not tell the difference, most of the time she would actually prefer the $10 cable over the Monster cable. I also tested the connection with the two different cables over the Satellite (Dish Network HD Receiver) and the Bravia TV. I was very conviced that my side to side testing would reveal no difference.
Why pay all that $$$ for an expensive TV and go w/ cheap cables. Im now a believer of expensive/ high quality hdmi cable. Even tested it out on my PS3 and noticed the difference as well. This is my 2nd HDMI 1000HD cable. I got an HD cable box and tested it out w/ cheesy vs monster cable. Im extremely satisfied w/ these cable. I see the the reviews are split here. From my experience, I can honestly say that the monster produced alot clearer and more natural picture.
I had second thoughts about paying extra for the monster cable. For those that are against expense cable I suggest testing it out for your. In the end it was well worth it. EXPENSE CABLES ARE THE WAY TO GO.
