Monster Jam Reviews
FOR A 4-5 YEAR OLD. I would say that he plays it as much if not more than some of the pricier games (Mario Kart, Diddy Kong racing).
Worth the money paid for the game. I just know that he asks to play this one alot more than he is actually allowed time for video games.
I am not a game player so I can't say anything about graphics or anything technical.
He loves racing games and he loves Monster trucks. He plays this game alot.
We picked this on up on sale as a special treat for our 4 year old.
I would not expect the quality of graphics of Xbox360 but the graphics are poor by DS standards too. Monster Jam is a pretty good game. When you advance a level or unlock new trucks there is no message. In the game you earn extra turbo boost for smashing items. It is hard to see where you are going sometimes with the position of the boost gauge.
You can play via WiFi with a pier to pier connection but you cannot play over the internet as in other DS games. The graphics in the intro menus are great. I do like that it has the voice of the commentator instead of stupid text scrolling on the bottom of the screen. The music and sound effects seem to be recorded badly they all sound distorted somehow. The turbo boost gauge should be moved to the bottom screen or there should be an option to move it to the bottom screen. All the top trucks are represented as are several real stadiums leading up to the world finals in Las Vegas.
You do not see the damage to your vehicle as in the Xbox 360 version of the game. The graphics during the game are pretty good but they could be better.
This game is easier for younger children than the WII version. My grandson was able to unlock trucks and play immediately.
