Monster Rancher 2

Monster Rancher 2 is the sequel to one of the strangest and most innovative games ever produced. It is a virtual pet simulator in many ways, but transcends that description by virtue of its varied gameplay elements and combat-oriented theme. The game begins with the creation of a monster, which is accomplished by inserting any CD (even an audio CD) into the PlayStation. A unique monster is generated from the data that is imbedded on each CD. Once you have your unique CD-generated beast, it's time to go to the ranch for training. With each training session, you will raise your monster stamina and strength statistics, which gives each particular monster a better chance for success in the game's exciting combat mode.

Sending an undisciplined monster into the arena is a recipe for failure, so much of our playing time involved training our creations and watching them develop into lethal, confident juggernauts. No two monsters are the same, and each develops its own unique personality as the game progresses. We became more attached to this game's creations than other games in the genre because of this well-executed feature. --T. Byrl Baker

Monster Rancher 2 Reviews

I enjoy this game alot because of the emazing variety of monsters and the use of your outher C.D's to get more monsters. I enjoyed training my creatures and scolding or praseing my monster after training.

When you figure out that you can unlock monsters with all the CDs in your home, you'll go outside, going door by door asking everybody and anybody to borrow CDs. Well, if you've ever played animal games, you might like this one. Monsters can and will die due to harsh treatment, so be careful. But be warned. You have a goal to acheive by breeding many monsters to put them in combat for many different reasons. Just make sure you don't run out of money- you'll lose the game.

One look at the cd and it would be evident that the product that was received was in poor shape and I would never buy anything from them again and would not encourage others to eithersince they send sub-standard products to hard-working consumers who aren't being paid to examine their products, just receive them in terrible condition. I gave this one star because the seller sent us a scratched and damaged game and it wouldn't work, so, I couldn't even play it.

The result of your hard work is quite rewarding. This game is dangerous. Although spinning all of those discs can get frustrating sometimes, you quickly get the hang of it. This is by far my favorite Monster Rancher game. (I've spent up to 6 hours at a time removing the game, putting in a CD, etc).

Monster Rancher 2 was the first Monster Rancher game that I had ever played, and I was in awe. It's impossible to stop playing. The idea of removing the disc so often (and have the game still work) was foreign to me, but I loved it. Some of the great features of this game: 408 total different monsters; Combining monsters; Monster playtime (have snowball fights).; Long gameplay; FUN.

Of the three, not counting Monster Rancher 1, is the best Monster Rancher Game. The thing is you can't unlick a monster and keep it in your book(in Monster Rancher 3 it's an encyclopedia). It is the hardest of the three. Although, you usually dont't get succsesses and never get greats. Monster Rancher 2 is a fun game, but it's different from Monster Rancher 3 and Monster Rancher Advance, but almost the same as Monster Rancher 1.
