The answering machine is so muffled that I can't understand the majority of most messages left on the machine. Battery died pretty quickly on the handset too because I left it on the hook for a month. Major disappointment. Careful of that.

This phone is simple and it does seem to work well enough (unlike some of the reviews of other phones I read about). I would just recommend checking your local department store first. But, I saw it advertised on sale elsewhere for considerably less than what I paid for it here. I wanted a simple phone with digital answering machine to take the place of voice mail. I gave it 4 stars because, as I said, it does the job.
