MX vs. ATV Unleashed Reviews
I bough this game and "hot rod garage to glory" at the same time and ive got to say they are both great but this one is realy great and very fun you can race a sandrail, atv, truck and more buy this game
the program looks fun but the software i recieved was corupt it wont load on any machine.
You'll need to spend days learning to use it and even more days/weeks to build your own tracks. The music jukebox is the usual nu-punk garbage, and doesn't allow you to select an MP3 directory of your own choosing, but thankfully you can switch it off. The waypoint courses lack the natural flow of the waypoint races in MCM2. If you enjoyed the Motocross Madness 1 and 2 series from Microsoft, this is the same team now developing for THQ. Also disappointing are that each race only includes a maximum of 6 riders and they don't have real rider names. You can set the race difficulty level (defaults to 80%) up to 125%, and it does make a difference, so you can continue to challenge yourself.
Nothing like the easy to use editor of MCM1. The airplane and helicopter vehicles included are impossible to steer, so they are useless. This is a great game with lots of fun tracks. There's a track editor, but it's a hardcore editor. It includes fun Supermoto tracks, loads of activities within each track design (press ESC within a race and choose Activities), challenging courses, and a variety of vehicles including Monster Trucks, sand buggies, and even 50cc minibikes and golf carts.
I think I have downloaded 25 tracks that people have made.and these can be raced with you and your friends online. My friends and I play it at least 3 or 4 times a week for some great competition online. I am not familiar with lots of racing games.but I can tell you this one for the money is great fun. Ok, there are some issues. Too many.and every time you make a setting change you get a pop up menu to confirm. At roughly $18 I thought, this game won't be worth it. It does get cumbersome.
This is a VERY fun game and my buddies and I have had hours of online fun playing this racing game. This game is really an online against your buddies game. Great custom tracks to download as well. And connecting online has given us some challenges.you connect through the Gamespy network, which is free, but can on occasion be a bit buggy. It's all very easy to navigate.
WOW was I wrong. Basically for online gaming one of you hosts a game. Then others connect to you by searching for available games over the Gamespy network. A friend of mine convinced 5 of us to all buy it so we could race each other online. But we normally always manage to get connected and once we are in it's easy to do one race after another. Pick your racing colors, your number, and even put your name on your jersey.then hit the dirt. I was really questioning the purchase of MX vs ATV Unleashed when I bought it. For the money this is a very good game with good gaming staying power.
Wow, the game makers really liked having menu's. But if your looking for a one player game.I would probably not suggest this one. Menu's. I didn't find the in-game racers very challenging.even at 130% difficulty.
The game is full of annoying things to click on in the menu system; such as, "are you sure you want to load this profile, click yes", "profile loaded successfully, click OK", "Are you sure you want to launch this race., click yes", for online play via the crappy built-in GameSpy interface, "login successful, click OK". Don't get me totally wrong here, the game is fun but it has so many annoying features and actual bugs that it's a good thing this is a budget title. Go out and buy it for the pure fun of playing, but be prepared to deal with the frustration factor, especially if you're used to Motocross Madness 2's interface and game play.
You also can't directly chat after a race without having to use the SEPARATE chat window. Very annoying interface if you're used to anything above sub-par. This is an obvious port and not a very good one at that.
You can't see who is already serving a game before you decide to do so, this means that you end up with 2 or 3 guys serving their own game with nobody playing because they didn't use the separate Search button to look for games ahead of time. Also, on my system the game will crash on a whim while using the GameSpy interface that comes with the game moving the mouse or clicking a button can send you straight back to the desktop with the infamous M$ error report requestor. Rainbow studios had some guys quit that were on the Motocross Madness 2 team and it really shows in this poor port.
You'll be lucky to find 2 or 3 people serving games at any one time and don't waste your time with the separate Hamachi interface that can be downloaded elsewhere if you don't know the specific server names and passwords then Hamachi is totally worthless for playing this game. The online interface is pure garbage.
