We mounted our flat screen tv, and then wanted to hide the cable hd box and vcr in our closet and it works great. We really weren't sure before ordering the product if it would work to suit our purpose, but it truly has. Of course you still have to keep a separate remote handy for the dvd player, but still works great.
I guess you get what you pay for and I'll have to spend a little more money to get something that actually works. This item made its way into the trash can very quickly. The directions were terrible and we couldn't get the dumb thing to work.
Bought this and couldn't get it to work at all. Stay away. Too late to return it. Assumed it was me and waited until I could cash in a favor from my favorite IT guru. He confirmed its uselessness.
It's a very powerful transmitter that fits into any remote control that uses one or more of the AA or AAA batteries.
After I fiddled around with the X-10 remote extender for a couple of hours, I could not change anything at all using it.
I bought this neat looking gizmo because I was going to run a TV cable back to the bedroom from the living room so I could eliminate another leased satellite box at 4.99 a month in the bedroom.

I will now order another one to control a downstairs receiver so I may change music stations from my outside patio so I don't have to run in and out anymore to flip stations.
I thought I found a better idea then running the wire back through the downstairs ceiling and I ordered the X-10 video extender which has a built in remote control extender as well.
I got frustrated and decided to hook up this gadget to operate the remote portion and in a couple of minutes it was working perfectly in controlling the receiver in the living room from the bedroom.
Even though it was sending the video portion back to the bedroom, the remote operation never worked.
It also keeps a second battery charged inside the ufo, so that you don't have to wait to charge the one in the remote. This was a great purchase for me, it works perfectly and i have zero complaints. I didn't even need the infrared extender, the blaster covers the entire room while it sits adjacent to my sattelite reciever. I've had the first battery in the remote for more than a month and is still going strong. I positioned the ufo blaster on top of my left tower speaker and placed the rf transmitter in my sattelite remote, it has never missed a button press and i use the remote from two bedrooms away. I highly recommend this product.
