It also seized up in cold weather so we would not recommend this product. We gave this a try for about a month. We found the Crank Crate cumbersome and heavy. Our neighbors have one where the hose is exposed and is on substantial wheels - a much better design for mobility.
We have been really happy with it. I bought one for my parents for Christmas, too. We you it with a NeverKink hose, and have had no problems in the year we have had it. Our hose actually gets put up now.
I currently own three.Can't live without one now. This hose reel brings the joy back to watering.Set up is easy and using it takes the drudgery out rewinding by hand and saves alot of time.Your hose is never twisted and tangled.
one does have to guide it in a little bit if a lot of hose is out, and needs room for the water run off
Prior to purchasing the Water Powered Garden Hose Reel, my wife struggled every time she tried to use our outdoor hose. We catch the water expelled during the retract cycle into a 5 gal. This stops the box from shifting during retraction of the hose. Since the Water Powered Garden Hose Reel is rather light, a tip on its use is to sit on the box during the retract cycle. Now, with a simple shift in the retract lever, the hose rewinds itself effortlessly. Great product at a great price. bucket & use it to water potted plants outside the house. All-in-all we couldn't be happier with the product.
