Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder

In addition to capturing stereo sound from meetings, interviews and other critical information expected of digital recorders, you can download and create podcasts with the DS-30. The super-high-quality sound is also great for listening to audio books and music - it's the ideal all-in-one audio device.

In addition to capturing stereo sound from meetings, interviews, and important lectures, the Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder allows you to download and create Podcasts for later listening. The DS-30 offers users up to 68 hours of recording time with its 256 MB worth of internal flash memory. For easy organization and storing of files, the player allows users to set up five voice folders, and each folder can save up to 200 messages. Internal files can be easily navigated on the player's high-contrast backlit monochrome LCD panel. Other great features include a built-in variable control voice actuator (VCVA) function, and a timed recording and alarm feature so you can set up automatic recording and playing. Running on two AAA batteries, the player offers up to 30 hours of continuous playback in the following modes: ST XQ mode (4 hour 10 minute capture time), ST HQ mode (8 hour 30 minute capture time), HQ mode (17 hour capture time), SP mode (33 hour 30 minute capture time), and LP mode (66 hour 40 minute capture time). For added user convenience, an optional AC adapter can be used with the recorder. Compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional operating systems and later, the player measures a pocket-friendly 4.37 x 1.48 x 0.63 inches and weighs in at a scant 2.80 ounces.

Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder Reviews

One thing I would suggest if you use with the phone is the additional earpiece mic Olympus TP 7 it's the best addition. Bought the extra microphone but haven't had to use it the attached mic is great. The product is great and does everything you would want it to with regard to recording with great quality. That said, if you are using for podcasts or want mp3 format you'll need to use something like audacity and lame software to edit from Windows format to mp3.

A great product, much improved over the one I had before in that it has a lot more storage, more folders. My only reservation is that the batteries run down faster.

I was a novice to the digital voice recorder industry when I bought my DS30. For those entering the digital voice recording arena beware, if the product description does not say the voice recorder has "advanced" features like rewind, fast forward, overwrite and/or insert, it doesn't. I thought it would be a good replacement for my Dictaphone, however, nothing in the product description warned me that common features found on tape recorders, like fast forward, rewind and the ability to record over a section are considered "advanced" and "advanced professional" features.

The sound quality is excellent and the price is wright. This voice recorder is great. Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder.

The cost is in excess of $ 100.00, however, the alternative, missing something important at a lecture or in a class, would be far more costly. It is compact, lightweight and easy to use. LOL I may even have a little fun and do some "EVP" work around here. Not having to change a tape is great and the record time limit is so high, I only erase once a week. The quality of the recording is good enough that even when I record an instructor from across the room, I can clearly understand what he or she is saying. Grant, Jason, you guys listening. The Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder is everything I had hoped it would be.
