OmniMount Stainless Steel Series Wall Speaker Mount (Black - 10lb) Reviews
I requested three Omni-Wall Mounts, stainless steel, black in color. The package was open, some parts were missing and the black paint was removed from about 1/3 of one side. Poor showing for a product that was supposed to be new. I received all three but one had been previously used.
It did appear to be sturdy and of high quality, just realize that I never got to try the product, and my review is based solely on the external/packaged appearance of the item. In this case, I'd anticipated receiving two of these for the purchase price and to my surprise, only one arrived. I guess things that make sense to me don't always make sense to big-business. So, I returned the item.
My advice to people with this problem would be to slip a small thin piece of rubber (a tiny square cut from a latex glove, perhaps). speakers don't move. For this reason you should use extra caution while installing. When you are tightening the ball-socket, you are putting a lot of leverage against the mount, almost enough to pull it out of the wall. The mounts are perfectly tight, my 8lb. Unlike the reviewer who said these look cheap and are made cheaply, I disagree, I think they are an item of relative quality and the supplied components are just fine. A heavier speaker puts a lot of stress on the mount, and you want every assurance that the mount is secure.
Other than that, it would have been nice if the item had come with extra hardware, like a spare drywall screw just in case. The metal has a sort of matte finish to it, which makes it sort of slippery.
But I can understand how some people would have issues with not being able to get the ball-socket clamped tightly enough. or cloth in the joint to prevent the ball from slipping.
I'll start by saying I bought these and I have NO issues.
I nearly paid $30 for each one. Amazon has a competitive price for these.
My only other advice would be to pick up some steel drywall screws if you don't have a stud to drill these into.
Oh well, they're worth it. I spent $20 a pair for the speakers at a factory clearance, it sucks that the mounts cost almost double what the speakers do.
I will need to buy something else for my purposes. My 8 lb speakers will NOT stay in place no matter how much you tighten the set screw. These mounts are a good idea for small speakers, but do not attempt to hang a speaker approaching the rated weight. The ball will just not hold.
