One For All URC 8820 8-Device Universal Remote Control Reviews
I absolutely love the macro feature where all I do is press one button and it turns on my DVD player, switches inputs on my TV, turns on my A/V receiver and sets the correct input on the receiver. I just can not believe I can do so much with the remote and it only costs between $10 and $15. Luckily I have three books. I have one for every TV in the house and have given them to friends and family members. The only bad thing I have to say is that it is not the easiest in the world to program and without the book you might as well forget it. It handles the simplest of functions of the receiver like volume and input source just fine though. I also have a problem controlling the A/V receiver, but it does fine for the Directv Satelite box, TV and DVD Player.
Without the LED you can't set device codes or use learning mode, so it was effectively useless. I guess you get what you pay for. The LED failed on mine less than 10 minutes after I started to program it.
I wanted this remote to work with my Kenwood stereo, it worked with the TV just fine but it wouldn't for the stereo.
Good flexibility, great price. I advise: check for current support availability before buying from "One For All". Unless this is a temporary problem that they are fixing, this looks like a company that is going out of business. Now I have just gotten a few new components in my home entertainment system, and so I need to get the new codes for those items. They do not provide any support phone number at all, and their e-mail support seems to be down as well. Those codes are nowhere to be found, and the support websites of the company are either badly out-dated or not working at all. I have been using this remote for over a year, and have been happy with it.
It was programmed with ease. Learning of the remote is such a nice feature. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a good universal remote. The 8 device is much more comfortable in the hand then the 10 device which seemed a little big for comfort. I got the 10 device before the 8 device and must say I am impressed with both of them. Great thing is that it works with Dishnet as well as Directv. Having had Directv it was hard to find a universal remote that would work but this one did the job.
