The receiver is very easy to set up. Plus, I would call this a receiver not a home theater system. On the plus side:. The receiver is a little on the bulky side. On the negative side:. There are connections for multiple components but as received it is only a receiver and speakers. The system menu allows for programming the sound output to less than 5 speakers.
Quality speakers, especially the Woofer. I upgraded from a cheaper Sharp 6 speaker unit and what a difference. Many different sound modes to choose from. Great sound.
Great unit many inputs and a good mellow sub woofer, fills the room at half volume. You cant compare the sound you get out of this system especially in this price range.
A lot of companies are selling things you probably don't need (7.1 sound, multiple disc dvd players integrated, etc) (especially if you are cost conscious). You have to read quite a bit to figure it out. So. I ran one from my samsung upconverting DVD player and one from my HD cable box. I never write reviews, but I had to on this one. If you are on a budget, but want great sound, and have all the input devices, this is the one. I searched for a long time trying to find out the "right" way to get 5.1 audio. There is no HDMI passthrough.but I read that sometimes it doesn't even pass audio, so you would have to go optical anyway.
Use the optical option for your sound (cables are cheap - 6 bucks). Otherwise it's just an algorithm simulating it. This system is great for an apartment. Sub is great.powered and not too big.
A+. Basically you supply the right inputs (only has a tuner onboard) and it does the rest. I had to rig a set of atlantic ones but it looks ok (Velcro and hardware). They have a center screw to mount to a wall mount or a universal stand and also a hole near the top and bottom to hang on the wall.
Stands for the rear speakers are a little difficult. You have to have this to get the 5.1 DTS or Dolby sound. Onkyo makes quality products.
product is great for the price.the sound surpassed my old receiver.the only thing i wished i had known b-4 buying it doesn't have a HDMI for hook up to a dvd or tv.
