Oregon Scientific AS316NE-S Nightfinder Travel Alarm Clock, Silver

On business and casual trips, when you need to make appointments, this handy travel clock is a must-have accessory. Uses its fold-over protective travel cover as a stand Batteries - 1-AAA (not included) Actual size - 2.5x.5x3 inches

No more fumbling for the clock in a dark hotel room to see what time it is. This compact travel alarm clock features a unique Nightfinder function that, when activated, illuminates the blue HiGlo backlight every few seconds during the night. When the function is turned off to save battery wear, such as when the clock is used at home, a simple touch against the screen will illuminate it for three seconds. The current time and alarm time are displayed simultaneously in easy-to-read digital numbers. When it's time to get up, the crescendo alarm starts beeping at a gentle level, then builds in intensity; sleepyheads can push gently on the screen to activate the 5-minute snooze function. The alarm's on/off button and the time- and alarm-set button are handily located on the front. The clock snaps shut into a compact unit measuring only 3-1/4 by 2-1/2 by 5/8 inches. At about half the size of Oregon Scientific's widescreen version, this travel alarm clock requires only one AAA battery (included) for operation. Accurate to within 0.5 seconds per day, the clock is backed by a 90-day warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Oregon Scientific AS316NE-S Nightfinder Travel Alarm Clock, Silver Reviews

The nightfinder does sometimes get turned on, but it's easy to turn off and has minimal affect on the battery. An absolutely essential feature on this clock are the forward/backward buttons to set both the time and alarm. I have used this for weekly travel for a couple of years and have been very happy with the performance and reliability. This small feature saves a great deal of frustration for frequent travelers who change time zones and alarm settings often. The alarm is about as loud as any other travel alarm, and the snooze time is closer to a regular alarm clock. Many other travel alarms have only 5 minute snooze. This is an essential travel item that keeps me from relying on hotel wake up calls or unfamiliar hotel alarm clocks.

The size is convenient, and the night light is a good idea, but an alarm clock you can't hear is nothing more than another boat anchor. I bought this clock because it said it had a cresendo alarm.which is suppose to mean getting louder.however, the alarm does NOT get louder only faster.

Not very useful, even for a moderately light sleeper. The only way I could hear it is if I was already awake, saw its light blinking and picked up the clock to hold it close to my ear. If I was asleep or facing away from the clock, I never heard it go off. As with other reviewers for this clock, I found the alarm not nearly loud enough.

I've taken it on three trips and it has been a lifesaver. I am purchasing one as a gift for a friend.she has the little battery alarm clock with hands that is next to impossible to set. I don't understand the bad reviews on this alarm clock because I love it. It is simple to use and easy to set. Buy this alarm clock.you won't be disappointed.

This is probably the worst feature.I find the nightfinder feature useless. It doesn't get louder at the end of its alarm sequence, just the beeps get more continuous.I also find it very easy to leave the clock in either the Alarm Set or Time Set (the toggle switch doesn't give you a good sense when it's in the middle), which means the alarm will never go off.Good things: it's light. Perhaps other find it useful, but there's usually enough ambient light to at least find the alarm clock, should I need to know what time it is at 4am (a quick push back on the clock turns on the backlighting). It could be louder it usually wakes me up, but not reliably. The hinged cover has a lot of trouble staying open, it seems to be weighted wrong such that it tips over very easily (especially when snoozing the alarm). Time is very visible and the backlighting is pleasant. Conservative with battery (assuming you don't accidentally turn on the nightfinder).
