Panasonic BL-PA100KTA Ethernet Adaptor Starter Pack Includes two HD-PLC (High Definition Power Communication). Highly recommended. This device worked perfectly to extend my network two floors up from my basement. The run is about 40-50 feet. Haven't had any problems in the 2 or 3 weeks since I installed it.
No such limitation with wireless. So, I shelved the Netgear switch and added a remote adapter to the study.feeding the master from the modem and networking both the study and the living room as remote locations. Yes, all the lights showed connections and the speed was at the highest level. Then, after unplugging the living room adapter, the study would work after resetting the modem. Secure your wireless network and avoid these pieces of junk like the plague.
After trial and error, I was able to get it to work from my study to my living room. The study worked fine, but although the living room showed it had LAN connectivity, the living room computer's network card couldn't access the Internet. But then, the computer in the study couldn't recognize the cable modem. Apparently, the cable modem syncs with one of these.period. I wasted about $150 on four of these and they're not even heavy enough for doorstops.
Absolute garbage; absolute waste of time, effort and money.
This is by far the easiest solution to home networking/Internet sharing I have found short of having Cat5e cable built into the house. I build/work on computers in a room at the opposite end of the house from the router. The house and wiring is old with the junction box in the basement and signal strength is as though I'm connected next to the router. Essentially it's plug 'n play, just follow the simple instructions and your online in minutes. I highly recommend this unit for home Internet sharing.
Using this pair to replace Netgear units that went bad. Had it up and running in a few minutes and it runs much faster than the old ones. Instructions were simple and complete.
The Panasonic Ethernet Adaptor was easy to install and provides excellent networking performance. Also the price, verses NetGear, was very attractive. My daughter's room is in a remote area of our home and WiFi connectivity was always a problem.
