Panasonic Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System - 4 Handset System (KX-TG9344T) Reviews
I was putting off buying such a nice phone, but my previous phones were interfering with the wireless network when the phone rang. Well, this phone DOES NOT INTERFERE AT ALL! So that right there is a plus. I have one phone right next to my laptop and the wireless connection doesn't even flinch when there's an incoming call. (BTW, if some of you are experiencing wireless issues, try forcing a channel on your router rather than leaving it on auto)
I love how this phone stops charging when the battery is full. The LCD screen shows messages like "battery charging" and "charge complete". My older phones would keep on charging, thus overheating the battery and requiring me to replace them a lot.
Some say it should be louder, but I think it's more than loud enough on some days, while not loud enough on others. I'd have to blame myself for listening to loud music. But what I can tell you is that the sound is CLEAR on both headset and speakerphone. I love using the speakerphone :D
My parents love the talking caller ID. And all handsets are in sync when the talking caller ID speaks. Even though some translations aren't quite up-to-par, it's still pretty good. And some of the translations make me laugh *ROFL* Though I'd say that Panasonic should update their text-to-speech software on this...seems like they've been reusing old software on new tech. I say this because it seems like computers, GPS, and cell phones are advancing in this area while Panasonic phones sound the same.
Can't comment on the answering machine as I use a separate one. Parents prefer the separate machine due to familiarity.
Never had to change the channel even once. It works throughout my house with no issues. I live in a 2-story house.
The while-lit LCD background + orange-lit keys are bright enough to read while not being a bother. It serves as a visual guide if you put the ring to silent mode.
Only pet peeve would be that you cannot access the phone's settings or even Caller ID when another phone using the settings OR while another phone is making a call. That kinda sucks that I cannot access the Caller ID on another handset while the phone is in use.
Best in class. Well worth the money. Previously I went with the cheaper brand from Costco and the handsets didnt last a year and had to throw them away. stop. That's why you should buy a good brand like Panasonic. The Amazon sale was very easy and received the product on time.
We bought this phone when the batteries of the phones on our old VTech system stopped holding their charge for long. We were told that Panasonic was the brand to go with for cordless phones, and unfortunately we listened. From the start, we didn't like the features as much as our old VTech. The screen is smaller and there is less info displayed on the Panasonic, and the menus are not as easy to use. It was much easier to view CID, save phone numbers, and look up numbers on the VTech. But we figured we'd live with the Panasonic, so we tossed the box and kept the phones.
Within a month, the handsets quit holding - or recognizing - charges and won't "connect" to the base when we try to use them. The phone rings, I pick up a handset, try to turn it on, and I get a screen message that says "Connect to base for 7h" - even though I just took the phone off the base! (The handsets do that regardless of whether they were sitting on the base or not.) One day I ran to three different rooms trying to answer the phone with three different handsets and none of them would pick up! It's infuriating and now, 6 months later, it's getting worse and worse so we are currently looking for new phones - not Panasonic.
I purchased this Panasonic phone because I have a 13-year-old Panasonic phone that I love and is still going strong. This one disappoints in comparison; the features are actually worse, in my opinion. And it is much more expensive.
Pros: - Includes a base with a keypad and speakerphone that can function a a 5th unit. - Each handset can be programmed with a night setting (no rings during specified times). This is great for bedroom phones if you have friends and family in different times zones who forget the time differences. - Phone book is common to all handsets. - Good sound. No interference with my Wi-Fi network. Easy to set up. - Uses standard rechargeable batteries, not special phone batteries (hopefully will save me money when it is time to replace)
Cons: - Even though you can program each handset with different options, you cannot program each handset with a name; they have an assigned number, so you have to remember that 2 is living room. - I am amazed that the menus and features and ease of programming are virtually the same as the 13-year old Panasonic phone. Nothing fancy for this high price. - Caller ID only shows the name as you scroll. You have to stop and wait a couple of seconds to see the number, which is annoying when the name is "unknown". You have got to be kidding, in 2010 Panasonic cannot do better than this?? - Saving Caller ID to phone book is awkward. If you want to change the name, you have to save it then afterward go in through the menu and edit the phonebook entry. Really?? - Deleting each Caller ID entry take two steps, delete and confirm. One thing that used to be great about Panasonic was that you could delete in one step. Oh well... - The Caller ID list saves every time someone calls. Panasonic used to only save the last time someone called, so I did not have to waste time deleting all the duplicate entries for people I talk to frequently. I suppose someone might like to see how many times their sweetie called, but couldn't they make that optional? Oh wait, there are hardly any features, of course they could not.
In summary, this would be a 5-star phone set if it was $50, but for the same amount of money you can get a much better phone set with many more features, like Bluetooth, much better displays, more ringtones and ability to answer your cell phone. In 15 years Panasonic is basically recycling the same technology, do not reward them with your money. I am too lazy to return this, but I will never buy a Panasonic product again.
I bought thsi product in 2008. Although it works apparently without problesm, after a few months of use the handphones started going out of battery for about 15 seconds. The batteries were in good conditions. After 15 or 20 second the line conecion with the base is recovered. I called to the panasonic service but they argue that is battery connexion issue. I had a previous panasonic phone that has problem with the answering system. So, for sure this was the last time I buy panasonic article.
